City Adventures

Tania and I ventured in to the city to day to have a  look at the 5000 Poppies display at Federation Square. It was in a tiny place, glassed in and long and narrow
Love this display with the hat and boots

Tania on the other side of the display area...I was talking to a lady from Bairnsdale, her group had made many poppies and were in the display somewhere! She was pleased to see them...

this is what it is all about, knitted, crochet, felted poppies for a huge display for ANZAC Day 2015. Tania and I have the needles out and have made a few...lovely to make in memory of a special person or people. Some poppies have a tag on the back and are dedicated to a particular person. Very emotional!

Yep I was there!!

There were many of these hanging rows of poppies back along the display area, they looked amazing!
We wandered along Flinders Street with me taking toy voyagers photos, we spied a man in Navy uniform with a bugle, so though something was going on. We had a look inside St Paul's and saw several ministers coming out...Tania asked what was happening...the bells were also ringing....Tania was told there would be a short service on the steps outside for Remembrance Day..so we decided to hang around and have a look.
At 11oclock,, the police stopped the traffic on the intersection of  Flinders and Swanston Streets and the bugler and a war veteran walked out and stood in the middle of the intersection....he played the Last Post and there was a minutes silence
the regular Army were in attendance too...

big screen over in Federation Square.....after the service we wandered off to find L'uccello to have a look at....

we turned the wrong way and got distracted by the back of St Paul's...such a peaceful looking courtyard.......

then we found Cathedral Arcade.....on the opposite side of the road..nothing wrong with my sense of direction!!! Lol!!  But isn't this a beautiful arcade? The ceiling is amazing!

Then we found the right place and Tania was in heaven.....we spotted the French General fabric the minute we walked in the door!!!  One happy camper!!

Beautiful windows in L'uccello....

and one very happy shopper!!! we had a great day out, found some new things, had some new experiences and want to go back and explore some more another day!!
Happy sewing!

L'uccello's is definitely a feast for the senses. I love going in there sometimes I don't even buy anything (believe that?)
