Things to do today

I found some really nice soft cuddly fabric at Mill Rose Cottage /to make into cot blankets for the KOGO baby gift packs. The idea is to turn them right sides together then sew around, turn right sides out and wallah....baby blanket!!

Also today is the day to attach the butterflies to the strip quilt

off to the iron....
thought it would be a good idea to iron a couple of shirts from the to be ironed heap at the same time, but after two shirts I decided it was just too hot!!
now butterflies are added....time for some lunch and a look at blogs.....then off to sewing...well I have been on the computer far too long now, so I am really off to do some sewing..free range quilting here I come!

Rain, rain, rain

I could not believe the amount of rain we had yesterday - I thought we were having a dry storm in the afternoon - probably just as well with the lightning that was around that we didn't!!

I thought the front door mat was going to float away - we had a good two inches of water through the garage and shed - nothing damaged just the dogs mattress soaked - he is quite happy to  sleep inside whenever he gets the chance!!  The thunder and lightning was right over the top of the roof it was so loud and the air was crackling! Then later when the rain stopped the water just soaked away and left the tree litter behind. We were without power for 4+ hours but dinner by candle light was quite pleasant for a change!!

2012 finished projects

Just found these photos so had to put them up - finally something finished!!
Made for the 2012 challenge A line from a Poem or Song - I chose Twas The Night Before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore , traced the pattern on, then painted as taught by Helen Godden, the free motion quilted, found the roof challenging but very pleased with the results.
Another Helen Godden style, several ideas put together again painted and free motion quilted, Xmas gift for one of the Gisborne Quilting group.
A great panel from the US perfect for the child of an English teacher I thought!!

Quilts made for one of the teachers at school who has just had a baby girl - the owl print came ready quilted and backed from Spotlight - very thin, but great for summer and good for a quick quilt, just had to do the binding!!
