Pumpkin

Today Pumpkin was welcomed in to the resident orang-utan family and is very happy! Many thanks again to Anna.
She looks right at home!!

Finishing work...

Back in to it today after much dithering around avoiding getting sewing....back to the I Spy Quilt that hasn't seen the light of day for ages
Last two blocks getting their sashing's here

two thirds of the quilt top together.
Why is it that sometimes you can up load photos and sometimes you just can't!! I take photos as I am working, then later in the day come to put them on the blog and they flatly refuse to cooperate! Very frustrating!

Christmas happened yesterday!!

I participated in this swap - kind of nervously!
CoLouR SwaP
If you are reading this page...
then you are interested in the "Colour Swap"
and that's GReaT !
This swap will require the sending of 4 items...
Something Edible...
Something Scented...
Something for a Room in the House...
Something Personal.

You can make (or purchase) any item you like, however ONE GIFT MUST be hand made.
ALL the gifts are to be in the colour of your randomly chosen partner's colour choice.

For this swap you may have to mail overseas... as it will be a "random" draw.

SO put your thinking caps on and decide on YOUR colour choice. Please keep it simple... colours like red, blue, green. pink or yellow etc.... nothing toooo specific.
When I open this swap up for registration, I'll allocate your partner asap after closing date... so you will get lots of time (probably more than a whole month) to create your "colours" package.

Until then... get the rainbow colours flowing in your head...
Organised by the lovely  http://stitchingcubbyhole.blogspot.com.au/  Cheryll.

ACQ 13

Had a wonderful day at the ACQ 13 today, Donna drove us in - luxury!! I went to look at the exhibitions first, otherwise I get tired and don't look at the wonderful work! Just a few of the amazing quilts there at ACQ
Off we go....
Jenny, Sue, Chris

Sue, Chris, Donna

most amazing quilt, so much detail

colour and bling!

just beautiful

amazing quilting!

painted on to white fabric then machine quilted - love this one!

made by a NZ quilter - amazing applique flowers

one of the twelve by twelve quilts - was drawn to a quilt in each colour section and they turned out to be all made by the same person.

love to know what was fascinating to look at!!

always love tea cups - another from the 12 x 12

loved this quilt, the leaves were made with wool rovings pulled out in a fine layer then held on with the quilting and some yellow hand stitches.

love the fishes here, embroidered on to a felt background I think

A Helen Godden quilt, painted on to black fabric, then machine quilted in different coloured threads, some metallic. In real life the blue was bluer.

Colour Swap

Wrapped and ready to go!!

Continuing work some more

While Jenny is here from New Zealand I have been motivated to finish a project I started about 5 years ago! This is a bit embarrassing!!  But it is finally done and really didn't take all that long once I got going. I had knitted the bag on big needles then felted it - then it sat!! :-)
bag as it was when felted

leaves are now attached

and a flower
some stitching on the leaves and a couple of beads and we are done! Think I will put a bit of glue under each leaf and petal to hold them down. Then it is off to it's new home in New Zealand. Yay!!

New project

I did promise myself not to do this but I have done it!! I had an idea floating around for a birthday present for Jenny - she did a trip to the US last year - the group hired Mustangs and drove Route 66 - I would have so liked to be there!!! So I am attempting to print photos onto fabric and make hexagons and put together in a wall quilt. Of course I printed the first two photos and the printer ran out of ink!!! So just working on the alternate hexagons
We are both quite liking this so far!  But of course lots more to do!

Continuing work

A week at the beach can make a huge difference to the amount of stitching that gets done!! (Especially when it is rainy and I don't have the urge to sit in the sun!  ;-)

Borders on and a strip put into the backing fabric

Quilting done and binding sewed on, just have to finish off all the quilting threads and sew the binding back! Very happy with these ones.
