beginning work on the Halloween table runner

love these pumpkins!!

hexagons coming along nicely!

Monday walk - such a beautiful day at the end of the boat ramp!

Playing with some....can't remember the name of these squares!! But I am practising getting seams in line!!!

Not bad if you don't look too close!! Lol!

I hate when this happens when I am trying to do the free range quitting! Grr! Now I have to unsew!!

Weekend away

I love having weekends at the beach, doesn't matter what the weather is like I can read, sew, walk, do nothing....watch TV (so long as the footie is not on!!) Very relaxing!!!
four seasons in a couple of days!

Lovely day Monday and Tuesday! Enjoyed a lovely walk along the beach...had fun playing with reflections!

Halloween preparations

I received a parcel of fabric from my girlfriend in New Zealand, she had found a quilting shop that was, sadly, closing down, so I scored some beautiful fabric...the only catch being, that she wants some of it made up into various things and returned to her!! So today I started on a skinny table runner
Am planning to do some hand quilting in orange around some of the pumpkins and cats, and bats!

Painchwork

I have had a lovely relaxing afternoon - have been painting on fabric and had a visit from Tania carrying a chai! I started here with traced pictures

then after relaxing painting - relaxing because I didn't manage to spill paint on the fabric or the floor and I do find it very relaxing - kind of like colouring in, I ended  up with this below!

Next step is to free range quilt on all the chalk lines (they look black now) and then decide if I do anything else to them before binding. I am a happy bunny this afternoon! Lol!!

Phew!!

Finally after many hours of tracing, cutting,  ironing, more cutting and then trying to get the pieces to fit together and then more ironing.....I have two blocks ready to sew from my BOM. ( Tracee please take note!!) LOL!!
this one ended up being a bit crooked but after an hour of trying too get it all to fit together close enough was good enough!!!

Chookies and babies went together a little better - only ironed one baby to the ironing board!! LOL!!

Zentangle finish

Got myself organised and put the owl Zentangle in to a little bag - I amaze myself when I get organised and just do it instead of  foofing around!! Lol!! Very happy with little owly.

Quilting Bee

Today I was invited (along with other quilting friends) to a Quilting Bee at the house of  Donna. She had a collection of double friendship blocks and wanted to get the sashings on
Sorry Donna I cut your head off!! Here are all the blocks in the pizza box, yummy goodies on the table for us!!

Marg sewing on one of the sashings

Tracee working away

Jean, Mary and Christine

Donna instructing!! Tracee beavering away!!

I interrupted Marg to show us the right side of the blocks she was working on - now it is after lunch (YUM!!) and the blocks are joined together and the top sashing is going on

Me too

here are the strips of blocks laid out for us to view - 4 seams to go and one strip still being worked on, hopefully we can get the quilt top completed on Wednesday night

Here are the remaining quilters just before we headed for home, we have had a wonderful day, lots of FOOD, chatting and laughter and of course sewing! And the quilt top is looking amazing.

Benella

We stopped here for lunch on the way home and by the information centre was this "sculptury" arrangement with places to sit, unusual shapes, beautiful sculptures etc. I was really taken with it
this makes me think of Friedensreich Hundertwasser the Austrian artist - he did amazing work - a very impressive one is in New Zealand in Kawakawa - the public toilets!!! You can see what he did here. But I met a lady when I was looking around and she was involved in the design here for 7 years, and she told me it was made in the Spanish style of Gaudi.

Lovely nooks and crannies

Sorry about the toy voyager in the photo, but there were lots of sitting places like this all around the structure

Love the baby, sadly some idiot had graffitied the babies back

this made me smile

a great place to stand and look, the more you look the more you see, there were young children playing around here too, they loved it!

love this seat.

Post delivery

I love it when you come home from a time away and the post is waiting to be collected and all the goodies you have (secretly) ordered have turned up!! Yay!!! Christmas in July!! LoL!!

More farmyard Frolics from Millamac - just love this quilt, I resisted the last one but when I saw this one I couldn't help myself!! Will try to take better photos tomorrow!

Some beautiful things in this book...lovely to read even if I don't get to make anything....but I have good intentions!!

More lovely appliqué and stitcheries

I love Zentangles...nothing better than creating a repetitive pattern and then trying to free range quilt over it!! Some interesting patterns and then what if you paint into then???? Hmmmm.....

Down the beach

Probably my last beach walk for a while - it is sunny and warm today but the breeze is a little cold, but that doesn't stop a walk on the beach!!
this poinsettia was in a garden on my way - just loved the colour!
went along Panorama Road, followed the track alongside the golf course, over the swing bridge (yep I felt it swing when some bloke walking the other way stopped walking and started jumping up and down!!!!) Some people!!! He stopped when I stood and stared at him - must have had the scary face on!!! :-) This was the headland the track came out on

Scary lady trying to take photo of self!!! LOL!!

Back down onto the beach

love it here today!
but I forgot a photo from yesterday
went with DH for a walk yesterday morning - he didn't tell me it would be 7km round trip until I staggered back to the bungalow!!!! ( He knows me well!!!) But we saw hundreds of these bats (fruit bats??) hanging in trees, some quiet, some chattering and jostling for position on the tree.

Have been sitting out the back here sewing in the sun keeping company with the kangaroos
Not a bad way to spend a few hours!!
