New project

I have liked Crazy Quilts for a very long time and have always taken photos of them at the Quilt shows, and thought one day....as you do!!! I have been gathering velvet (the light Spotlight/Lincraft stuff) when ever I go there and can find a left over bit.  I decided this year was the year of the Crazy Quilt, so in December I started cutting big squares, I couldn't just cut bits off to make a true Crazy Quilt, so I stacked and slashed.....I was hoping to get it done before Christmas but i made a cutting mistake and so decided to leave it until after Christmas...now is the time to get on with it ......mind you it is very hot to be sewing today....but little steps!! I actually did 3 loads of washing today...put it out and 30 mins later brought it back in!!
this is what I started with....

then I am sewing and slashing and sewing again.....

putting in a bit of lace here and there.....

one more side to cut.....

I don't know why I took this photo!! Lol!! Heat brain has struck again!! I am guessing because of the lace! Oh dear!

And now six blocks ready to be pressed and cut down to a regular size, then the decorating can begin! I have tried to keep a hexagon shape in the centre, some worked some didn't! Still thinking about possibly doing a couple more cuts.....maybe, maybe not! lol!
Happy sewing!
