Geelong Patchwork Guild...

...had their monthly meeting yesterday....the theme was Japanese...people were encouraged to dress up and decorate their table....the speaker was Leanne O'Sulliavan from Kimono House in Melbourne...she was very interesting to listen to, she spoke mainly about her collection of childrens kimono.
..here is the lovely Ene ready for her walk of fame...showing off the fancy dress...
Ene's quilt made by hand and reversible, winter this side with the blues and summer the other with bright colours...

this is just part of a beautiful quilt made with African fabric....

Tracee came down to visit today, here she is working away, it was wonderful to spend the day with her

our beautifully decorated table....

one of the children's kimono going by...this is for a boy...the white spots are where the family crest goes, the pictures all have meaning and wishes for a good life...

this was another boys kimono....from the 1940's I think...
we had a great day, it was a fundraiser for the Biggest Morning Tea.....the raffles were amazing, three people won on our table....
Happy sewing.

  8. I started writing to a Japanese penpal back in 1970... we now exchange Christmas cards. She now lives in the States and we met over there a few years ago.....your Japanese Day reminded me of that!
