Exploring day...

Yesterday we gathered the road map, wrote out some directions and headed out to find a hobby shop for hubby at Mount Wellington....surprise, surprise at the top and on the side of Mount Wellington there are geocaches.....hee hee..so we had to make a detour there after the shopping was completed!!
the city from the top of Mount Wellington...

looking out to Rangitoto Island...
sadly once we got there my gps refused to work properly......to be honest everything was wet so I wasn't  too keen on climbing up and down in the grass and on the scoria!!!
We did the Earth cache...that means answering questions, then headed to One Tree Hill......now One Tree Hill is a famous landmark in this area, but sadly over years the tree that was up there was attacked by a Maori activist and died and had to be removed. We parked down in Cromwell Park and then walked up the hill....boy was I puffed when we got to the top....
do I have to walk up there?????

panorama from the top...

of course being in NZ we have to have a sheep photo!!! Lol!!!

coming down we followed the sheep trails......real good in slippery weather with ordinary shoes on!!!! But I made it!!

love the old trees here, and we had great weather for the morning...

caught up with hubby at the road....

Loved this huge old magnolia tree...

oops......going slow again...this is the usual view when hubby and I walk somewhere together!! Lol!!

another beautiful old tree...off to get some lunch now.....
see you later.
