Geelong

was my destination for yesterday, it was the Geelong Patchwork and Quilting guild meeting...I met the lovely Tracee and Marg at the venue, in fact they arrived before me and were lurking in the kitchen...we had kitchen duty and didn't know what we were supposed to do...we were soon put right by a passing member...then went of to the supermarket to get some cake/biscuits...found the former so presented them for morning tea...I must say they were well received! The speaker this month was Deb Humphries, a West Geelong local who worked in Malawai, helping people with disabilities...she is now fundraising to help  people there get specially made wheelchairs...she has African fabric for sale...there were some beautiful pieces.
one of the quilts for show and tell, made from op shop shirts!! beautiful!!

and this was a splash of colour....

and these were appliques a member had done and then donated to be made into quits for the Children's hospital...the lady who coordinates these quilts made them all into cot quilts..aren't they amazing?
After the meeting we went in to Geelong and to the Wool Museum to have a look at the

Art Quilt Australia 2015 inc. Expressions: The Wool Quilt Prize

this stunning quilt was the winner...the quilting was amazing, you can't see here but there were words incorporated into the quilting...so much to take in!! I took heaps of photos as I do (Lol!) but will not subject you to all of them except maybe this one
a couple of quilt viewers...

this one by Helen Godden

love the moth on this one...

spied on the other side of a quilt...

loved this sheep, such a pretty face and its wool was made from flowers! We had a great day, finished of with a coffee and then we drove home!
Happy sewing.
