Wandering Wednesday

Today started as a very noisy day...the sparkies arrived just after 7.30am and started drilling and putting the cables in for the lights and power points downstairs...at one stage the noise got louder and louder and I thought they must be working right underneath me...next thing Martin appeared and looked at me, I looked at him and he said....uuummmm....and then he said @#&##@@  and so I went to look where he was looking and saw this....
...while drilling through the bearer he hit a nail and came through the floor boards!!
Jo the cabinet maker had a look and thinks he can fix it....the floors are going to be sanded and stained so hopefully it wont look too bad...we might just have to position a rug in the spot!!
David came home from tennis just after 10am, so I hopped on my new mode of transport....
...and went to sewing group.  There were five of us again today, we had a lovely time sitting sewing/knitting, went to the new chicken shop for lunch and then more of the same in the afternoon.
today I met Tara, who does all kind of tricks for biscuits!!

..she has a pretty face! She is a Jack Russell/Cocker Spaniel cross....

this is a knitted doll Linda made this week....this way is Pansy...

and flip her over for Rose! Isn't she cute??

I am sewing the binding on an Aussie Hero quilt....about 12 inches to go!!!!

This was the view from the end of the main street as I was heading home...it has been a beautiful day....how was the sunrise this morning....amazing what you see when you get up before the tradies are coming!! Lol!!
Happy sewing.

Squally Sunday

Today inbetween and during rain showers we have been over to Wallington...I went along to price...just price an archway that I need (lol) to train some jasmine over....we have inherited a very old jasmine plant here so need to get it up off the ground and the fence and over an arch way, but before that can happen a stump of another tree has to be removed.....hopefully that will happen this week.  Last week at the hardware store I bought some hanging baskets....they have been waiting..... but when I am in a garden centre I get a bit excited and we came home with
...parsley seedlings for one hanging basket......I scavenged some hooks from the builders heap of waste...I think they hold up the spouting....am using them for hangers but I am not sure how strong they are...we will see!!

..pansy seedlings for another hanging basket...

this one has seaside daisy...I took a few bits from Eve's garden last time I was there and they were sitting in a jar and have sprouted roots, so I hope they grow happily...

and this basket has bright red geraniums...

and under the kiwi fruit that has stopped growing I have planted a banana passionfruit....loved these when I was young....the supervisor is not sure what I am doing....

come to check everything out....

and I also came home with a tamarillo, or tree tomato as I knew them growing up...love these off the tree or in chutney.....yum!!!!

I did a little more stitchery last night.....

and the Aussie hero quilt is finished and ready to post....

the main reason for gong to the hardware/nursery shop was for DH to get some pavers to create a path from the house to the super shed door...when we bought them several broke as the hardware man picked them up...he said he hated selling faulty stuff....well DH got them into the path walked on them once and four broke...he is not a happy camper!!! Back to the hardware store me thinks!!
Off to do some sewing now...on no...actually might have to take the supervisor for a walk....have been avoiding that today so far....off to dodge the rain drops!!
Happy sewing.

Happy Day

I have had a lovely day today....the sun is shining.....have had walks on the beach....and happy sewing time with a wonderful friend. Shez came for a visit today, she is staying with her sister at Port Arlington, just down the road really!! And despite the navigator giving Shez the wrong directions she found her way here no problems! Well, except for ending up in the neighbours driveway!! Lol!!
We had a walk along the beach to the Yacht Club and back....
Shez telling Tupai to smile for the camera.....Lol!!...

Success!!! Shez is a good dog trainer!!

Guess who has a new friend at lunch time!! The weather was lovely we got to sit out on the deck

...and yes we chatted but we did stitching as well....here is Shez untangling her thread....concentrating....

and her beautiful project she is working on...I was stitching too...moved on to the binding of the Aussie Hero quilt..but I forgot to take a photo!! Maybe tomorrow! I have had a great day, It is such a pleasure to spend time with Shez.
Happy sewing.

Love this tree I see on our walk most days....

...here are the leaves....now just to do a little FRG on the head an then on to the binding...this has to be in the post by Monday so need to get a wriggle on!!

Free range quilting

Hasn't it been a lovely day today....I have managed to wash the sheets, change the beds, walk the dog and clean the house...plus rescue left over roofing iron from the shed to make a raised vege garden...not sure how the making of is going to happen yet, but the wonderful shed construction man will be back in a couple of weekends so I shall be asking his advice!!
Tupai had his morning paddle...in his own private pool today!!  Lol!!

The flag was flying against a beautiful blue sky...

the tide was way out...farther than I have seen it before.....

and now I am attempting to free range quilt...had to take a break as my ears were cemented to my shoulders....had a cuppa and moved the bones about a bit....back to it now.
Happy sewing!

Sewing Monday

This morning I went off to the Bellarine Quilters group for the sewing day....was cool this morning but turned out to be a beautiful day...there was a little show and tell of friendship quilts
..this one started with a medallion centre then others added borders...

this one started with a centre block then each month a block name (eg log cabin) was drawn out of a hat and that was the block done on the next border...
this was a friendship quilt where a block was chosen and a colour scheme and several people made a block,....I haven't done on e of these but would like to one day....like lots of other things!! Lol!!

this was done by another lady...lovely fabrics....

Four of us went to a local cafe for lunch...this was the view out the window....

this is not a good photo but I have been working on filling the gaps in my hexie quilt, sewing in the orange and black hexies. Has been a wonderful day.
Happy sewing.

AQC

Boy I have had a busy weekend...feel the need to lounge about in bed this morning!! But the Bellarine Quilt group sewing day is on today so I had better get organised for that. Saturday night hubby and I went off the the Gateway Hotel to see the McClymont Sisters....hubby under sufferance I might add!!! I loved the music but found it VERY loud....my ears were ringing for the rest of the night...hubby disappeared off to the pokies, mostly to get a seat as he cannot stand for over an hour but partly to avoid the music...actually he said it sounded better in the pokie room, so maybe we should have just gone there!!!!
Yesterday I was up early and at The Geelong South train station at 7.45...no trains this weekend so got on the bus...was in the city by 9.10 and up at the Exhibition buildings by 9.30. The weather was a little better by then...was 6 deg C when I left home and there was heavy rain on and off.
love this building. ..

and the gardens....

some blue sky is coming...
Some of the beautiful quilts on display...

Love this one, hand stitched and spray painted...

......hexies!!!! And a beautiful bee....in the True Blue display....

...loved this little blue wren....

and this quilt....

made from this book.......

look at the cute dogs here....amazing quilting too....

...part of the wonderful ANZAC display....
I got to meet the wonderful Molli Sparkles..he is an amazing quilter from Sydeny, who organised the hash tag blocks..you can read about his appeal here...he and a large team of volunteers have made over 14 quilts for the families affected by the Sydney siege....he is in talks with the NSW govt about presentation  of the quilts and a positive memorial being out together with photos of the quilts and the cards and letters left at the site...he is a wonderful positive person...I came away from our brief meetup feeling very happy!! I had been 'sparkled'!!

this was the Bernina workshop area....here for $5.00 you could make a laundry bag for Aussie Hero Quilts...Bernina then added another $5 for each one made....they have been amazing supportive of Aussie Hero Quilts at this show...

....here are Jan-Maree...founder of Aussie Hero's, and her side kick Caroline ...

..got distracted by the inside of the building....

need to practise the art of a selfie...Lol!!...Jan-Maree and me!

Caroline....and yours truly....

this was the machine Bernina donated for the raffle...a one off design...the lady who won it was over the moon....

Mr Bernina.....Gary or Greg...I can't remember his name now and Jan-Maree drawing the raffle....I had a great day really enjoyed talking to people about Aussie hero's...met lots of lovely quilters and non quilters and caught up with the wonderful Elyte, Ann, Annie and Robyn....you never know who you are going to see at a quilt show!!
Happy sewing!
