this is just across the road......

8 am this morning....

David had two and a half hours of tests so I went for a wander....well it was more like a huge walk...I have the sore feet to prove it!! Lol!!
Went down through China town

And visited here...yay!!!! Love this shop.....

and had a squizz in the Kimono House......lovely Japanese fabric in there.....

Then back through the Fitzroy Gardens and back to the car....off home we went....

Success!!!!!

After a day of putting in screws, following instructions, well trying to....unscrewing the screws, taking one side and the back off -  I put a shelf in back to front, and then upside down and the doors wouldn't close ......back to square one!! A cabinet maker I will not be!!! Anyway I am happy to say it is all together and finished!!!
...first cabinet finished just before lunch....

next one laid out and drawers started....didn't take any photos of the undoing...being positive!! Lol!!

WooHoo!!!! Two cabinets finished...it is now 4.20 pm.....one of the drawers doesn't close completely but I am ignoring that.....

and then at 6.45pm I finished the little filing cabinet...it is actually white the same as the cabinets....it was supposed to sit between them but has been put on one end, when the furniture comes Wednesday some reorganising might happen!!

Ta da!!!! A weekends work...but very happy with the results...now to fill them up!!

This is a quilt made by someone who belongs to the Geelong Patchwork and Quilting Guild....one person made it, another quilted it and volunteers were asked to do the binding...actually the binding was sewn on, just needed the hand sewing, was happy to do that last week. This quilt will go to the Children's hospital eventually. Isn't it a lovely quilt.
Happy sewing.

Yesterday....

I got myself sorted to put together this....
all pre cut, holes drilled, it just fits together...right???? NOT!! I am no cabinet maker but this has proved to be a challenge......not helped by the fact that I put a shelf in back to front and had to pull it apart and try again!!
I started in this nice orderly way...everything is numbered......took me a little while to realise that!!!

Showing my skills..or lack there of!!! Lol!!

Is dark now......had to bring out the sustenance to keep going.....this was the putting the frame together before I realised I had a shelf the wrong way around and so had to undo it all again!! Would d you believe it not long after this photo I knocked over the beer!!!

This is where I am at this morning.....have to get the electric drill as I just can't screw the back on by myself....best get back to it.....
onwards and upwards.....
Have a good one.

Queenscliff..

Yesterday I went over to Queenscliff in search of an elusive cache.....it is somewhere in the 360 tower...I think it has magnets on it, but I couldn't find it...was a bit frustrating....
There are the most amazing views from the top of the tower..

the shadow of the tower...looks a bit like a huge monster doesn't it!! lol!!
I did find one cache over near the boat marina.....thank goodness!!! I did feel a bit silly feeling around under the seat and I was hoping there weren't any spiders underneath...but was happy to find the cache.
Happy sewing.

Hello....

hasn't it been a beautiful day to day?? Had a lazy morning reading a book, then walked the dog, then much to his disgust took him to the dog wash where we had a tussle of wills as to whether or not he was getting into the dog wash...hee hee I eventually won!!! The man waiting to use the wash was not happy though, he was kept waiting!! Oh well!! I now have one lovely smelling, soft to touch Chowchow!! He didn't speak to me for a while but we are on friendly terms again now!! (Pigs ears are wonderful for bribing!!)
I had lunch at the local pub yesterday with the local sewing ladies and was taken with the blue sky and palm trees, not bad for winter!!

The water was very calm when we went for a walk this morning..

coming back I noticed a cloud passing over and a rainbow, not much colour mainly the shape, there must have been water in the cloud...

some secret sewing has been happening here...

love what you see on the back....kind of like colouring on the lines, or as close as I can get to them!!
Happy sewing.

Geelong Patchwork Guild...

...had their monthly meeting yesterday....the theme was Japanese...people were encouraged to dress up and decorate their table....the speaker was Leanne O'Sulliavan from Kimono House in Melbourne...she was very interesting to listen to, she spoke mainly about her collection of childrens kimono.
..here is the lovely Ene ready for her walk of fame...showing off the fancy dress...
Ene's quilt made by hand and reversible, winter this side with the blues and summer the other with bright colours...

this is just part of a beautiful quilt made with African fabric....

Tracee came down to visit today, here she is working away, it was wonderful to spend the day with her

our beautifully decorated table....

one of the children's kimono going by...this is for a boy...the white spots are where the family crest goes, the pictures all have meaning and wishes for a good life...

this was another boys kimono....from the 1940's I think...
we had a great day, it was a fundraiser for the Biggest Morning Tea.....the raffles were amazing, three people won on our table....
Happy sewing.

Walking the dog

Today was my turn to look after Tupai, he hasn't coped too well with all the changes in the recent months...so we went over to Port Arlington and walked along the beach
Lovely coastline along here..

Tupai found a perfect sized paddling pool!!
We did a bit of geocaching and looked for the Flora and Fauna park.....one entrance had a big sign that said no dogs so we went and got a cuppa....as I was putting the take away cup into the car the  lid came off and spilled on the floor!!!! Geez!!!!!  After I had cleaned up I went back to get another...luckily the shop owner gave me one free, and shook his head!! Lol!
We sat by the water for a while, then headed home, Tupai happy in the back yard and me off to  Port again for sewing.
I finished this stitchery last night...

And worked on this one today. I am enjoying these.
Just for a laugh,
when we were out walking earlier in the week and I decided to try and take a photo of Tupai and I together....he would not cooperate...he is frightened of the tablet!!!!!  Oh dear!!!
Poor boy, being dragged into the photo!!
Happy sewing.

Out and about once again

I was up in Gisborne for the hair appointment today and after we were all made beautiful we went up to the Mount Macedon pub for lunch
Marg and her Mum Betty....

Tania and myself...

Tania, me and Karen the wonder hairdresser!!
Of course no visit to Gisborne is complete without a visit to the LQS..
Blogger has decided to turn this photo on it's head, but I couldn't resist these fat eigths and some lovely gold embroidery thread for some free range quilting on a secret project.
This is the third night we are out of the house,  but tomorrow we are promised the flooring will be finished and we can go home!!! Looking forward to that.
Happy sewing.
