Off we go....

The Aussie Hero quilt is nearly finished, just have to hand sew the binding down and get all the fluff off...always when I work with black it ends up covered in fluff from the wadding......frustrating!!
not looking too bad...

and the back.....
today we are off to Melbourne to take the supervisor to the kennels....shhhhh...don't tell him where we are going just yet...he has just had a brush and now is snoring under the table..he is exhausted!!! Lol!!
Tomorrow we are off to New Zealand...to celebrate..
with my mother...quite an achievement!!
I hope to see some of this down at the beach...
it depends on what we are doing....

might even get to see some of this.....depending on the weather.
Hope to catch up from the Land of the Long White Cloud.
Happy sewing.

City Day with Friends

Yesterday a bunch of us met up in the city to do some exploring, have lunch and generally catch up....and of course a little geocaching was included!!! We met at Southern Cross and then went in two groups..the first off to what used to be DFO and Mel, Marg and I off to find a cache at Batmans Hill...now part of the walk way to the station and the footie ground....Mel was the Eagle Eyes today....I thought I had taken a photo but in my efforts to be stealthy I didn't as it is not on the camera!!!
...off to the shopping centre to find the other ladies......we did and they were shopping up a storm, so we headed off to meet up with some others at federation Square...

as time was tight we got the tram....

the shoppers arrive at Fed Square....they got off the tram and were talking so much they walked straight past us and up the road!! Lol!!

MargMelody, and Jo and myself went off to Hosier Lane to look for a cache...but no luck, we did enjoy looking at the graffiti though...as did many other people!!!

Off to Lucello's for a look around and serious temptation!!!
I came out with this beautiful fabric to make Christmas decorations...
we explored the other shops in the Nicholas building...one shop owner was Jose from Peru...he had amazing fabrics made from the lama and alpaca wool and beautiful things made in Peru...
..couldn't leave the shop with out these.....love them!!
we had lunch in the David Jones food court....road pork and veges for me!! Yum!!
Then did our swap for this meet up which was a covered journal..

Marg's beautiful journal from Barb...

Mine from Kim...

Jo's from Marg..

Anne's from me...

Barb's from Jo...

Kim's from Anne....
Some beautiful work here and it always amazed me that they are all different!!!
After lunch we  headed off to a wool shop......I didn't get any photos 'cos I got sidetracked in the English shop next door...and had to do some photos there!! lol!!
Formal sitting!!

Marg asking some questions!!!

Melody having a happy visit!!! There will be more photos on Shez's blog in the next few days!!

Heading off now......time to say good bye until next time......some headed home, some went shopping some more, I went geocaching and then met the family for dinner.

Hello....

...hasn't it been a beautiful day today...some sunshine, lovely sunrise, well I think it was lovely I  missed it!! lol!! Was just a little too late!! But it is still beautiful!

I had a very enjoyable morning sewing with the local ladies, then wandered home and had lunch in the sun on the back deck...then got down to the serious stuff of sewing!!
I made this laundry bag to go with the Aussie Hero quilt I am making.

I had a play with some felt this afternoon too and made a little pincushion......can't decide if it looks like a flower or octopus!!! Might need some green leaves!! Lol!!
Happy sewing.

Sewing day

I have been a busy beaver today and have finally finished the Aussie Hero quilt top....took me all day, some unsewing also happened, and sadly some seams just do not meet, but overall I am happy. I think I am challenged in the cutting department, no matter how many times I check things just come out different sizes!!!!
not such a good photo, will try again tomorrow and blogger will not let me rotate it.
Happy sewing.

Progress...

Yesterday I sat and sewed, and sewed and unsewed...boy I hate that bit!!! Finally I had one panel done
...had to pin it to the new curtains...shhhhh....don't tell hubby!!!  Was supposed to get more done today but we went clothes shopping for hubby, always a challenge, and on the way home did a spot of geocaching at Point Henry....well we were driving past.....
I zipped in and out of the car in between rain showers and passing cars.....one shower when we were right on the point made wonderful rainbows.....
nice rainbow!!

and this looked like it finished at the boat....must be where the pot of gold is!! Lol!!

Guild meeting

Any minute now the camera will take the photo...any minute....there it goes!!lol!!
Today we had the AGM at the Guild meeting.......then a short meeting and then a very interesting speaker who told us of her quilt journey...she does the most AMAZING quilting and art quilts.....
this one has appliqué, painted fabric, hand sewing, I can;t remember the other methods I am sorry, but it has tiny, tiny quilting all over the black....just beautiful....

amazing detail in the flower, stitches and beads....
just a little of the show and tell today...

how is this...painted and quilted....

another of the speakers quilts..
on the way home I drove out to Point Henry...never been out there before, it is where the closed Alcoa smelter is...and of course I looked for a few geocaches....
..very calm and peaceful out here today.....while following this track and looking out at the water I tripped over some metal lying across the track...one minute walking along, the next lying in the grass!! Very elegant!!! lol!! NOT!!! Luckily no one else was around.....

...at the point there were hundreds of these shells....I never knew they cam in so many different colours.....

..must be home time, the sun is going down....

wharf at the end of Point Henry...

...really is time to go home now!!!
Happy sewing!

Yesterday I went up to Gisborne for a sad event, even though it was a celebration of life, the funeral of Margs mother, Betty. Betty passed away suddenly last week......TraceeTania and I went along to say our goodbyes and to support Marg.
After the event we went in search of some geocaches I had spied in the vicinity...the first one at Gisborne train station we could not find, the second I forgot to take the camera, but it was at the Steam train club and Tania spotted it after a cold walk along the muddy path...us in our good clothes and shoes too I might add!!..... the third Tracee had spotted before we had stopped the car.........here she is putting it back before anyone saw her! Sorry Tracee I had to!! lol!!

...being quick before anyone comes along....
...the next was near the Macedon cemetery.......while we were there we looked at this beautiful sculpture..

...isn't she beautiful??? It is called Asleep.

...the cache was over the road, we were being watched by some of the locals....Tracee (aka Eagle Eyes) spotted the cache first.....

...time to get out of the cold and head for home.....I stayed overnight with Tracee and family and enjoyed a wonderful roast dinner and much ranging conversation......

and this morning went with Tracee to let the girls out of their night time boxes and shed and out into the yard. it was lovely waking up here, the kookaburras were laughing, the magpies chortling.....I even heard a rooster telling us it was time to get up!!
Back home now after a lovely lunch at the Port Arlington golf club......and off to the Geelong Patchwork and Quilt Guild meeting tomorrow.....never a dull moment here!! Lol!!
Happy sewing.
