New Zealand part 6

Today we decided to drive into town, then walk from there to the Whangarei waterfall, the track went along side the Hatea River and through beautiful bush

great easy to follow track

loved this tree with it's lichen and ferns

we came to the canopy walk and found this beautiful kauri tree...this is part of the base

aand this is the top.

beautiful pungas we walked through....we were heading back now, it was another 1.3km to the waterfall and we had already walked 4 and had to get back so decided to turn back

we spied this dragon boat wasting away in the grass on the way back, the gray cat had found a wonderful place to rest in the sun.
Later in the afternoon when we had recovered we had a visit from Leeanne from Quiltmekiwi she is kindly going to quilt the hexie quilt for me, so it will be exciting to see the quilting she does. Leeanne came to us as we were concerned about finding her out in the country after our last efforts at finding Raewyn!!

We had several attempts to get a good photo, hubby was in charge of the tablet...always a challenge for him.....this one was finally deemed ok...thank you for your patience Leeanne.

You are certainly covering alot of the country. Great photos Sue. Trying to find people's places out in the country can be a challenge so glad Leanne came to you. I do have to say she gives good directions that I managed without getting lost! She will work her magic on your quilt for sure.
