Easter

This weekend is along weekend and of course is Easter but is it also an extra long FNSI
Wendy our host over at Sugarlane designs is hosting this sew in...you can go over there and sign up and join in.
I have Eve here this weekend with her little dog Basil
Basil is a Jug..Jack Russell Pug cross and boy he is an active barky little dog, so different to the chow!!
Yesterday I had the need to eat a hot cross bun!!! We found some at the supermarket but they had things in them I prefer not to eat,so I decided to try and make some. I bought a packet of gluten free pancake mix with apple and cinnamon in it, added some extra gf flour, cinnamon, mixed spice and sultanas, a little yeast and warm water...
and into patty pans they went...into the oven for 16 mins or there abouts..

and they came out like this....and they were edible!!! Yay!! The only problem was they stuck to the bottom of the patty pans!

Is a beautiful afternoon this afternoon, have been walked by the dogs along the beach,

had some lunch and now a hot heavy bun!!! No cross and boy they are heavy but they taste fantastic!! You can see what we are doing this afternoon!
When I brought Eve back from Melbourne we stopped at one of the antique centers on the way through for her to look for postcards, Basil and I went for a walk and passed this old building, I think Melody went here and took photos a few months back.

I seem to have an interest in graffiti art at the moment, or maybe my eyes are just more open to looking!! Lol!!
Am off now to do more of the puzzle and maybe some stitching.
Happy sewing.

Word photo challenge and EPP link up

It is that time of the week again, actually I think I am late, but better late than never!! The word for this week is THANKFUL.
There are many things in my life I am THANKFUL for, but I decided on the two sets of cards I keep in the sewing room...I take a few minutes each day to choose a new card ,  read them and think about what each says.
You can see the other THANKFUL photos over at alshasspace...oops the new word is up so I must be late!!! No worries I am THANKFUL I made this one!

I also was at the Seachange group sewing morning this morning and saw the dinosaur puppet made by one of the ladies there in a class they had recently...
how cute is that??? It is staying at her home until she knows the grand sons look after it!
I did some sewing
a new hexagon quilt block underway, two and a half seams to go!! T forgot it was EPP link up over at Anthea's today...so am linking up at Hibiscus Stitches....check out the EPP beauties over there.
Happy sewing.

Catch up

Last Thursday we went into Melbourne, hubby had to go to St Vincent's for blood tests, then he wandered off to go to hobby shops, and me being a good girl resisted a visit to Luccellos and went geocaching instead!! I ended up in China town as my gps wouldn't tune in properly, no doubt because I was in between buildings...I did wander up one stinky alley way, drawn in by the paintings on the walls
this was at the back of a carpark in an empty space

this was up the stinky alley way, out the back of the Chinese restaurants, just love the eyes....

another impressive painting
I sat outside the Chinese museum for a while, spoke to Adam who said he wasn't coming in to the city that evening and then the gps fired up...and guess what there was a cache 104 m from me!! So off I went, up the alley way behind two blokes...usually I would be more cautious but I knew straight away they were doing the same thing as me!!
One of the found the cache, magnetically attached to a metal door...you had to reach in underneath and it had dirt stuck to the lid and wood shavings and metal scourers attached at each end...really made you wonder what you were touching!!Lol!! We had a chat, signed the log and then went on our separate ways.I was supposed to meet hubby at 5.30..at 5.45 I went to the car to see if I had the message wrong and he was at the car...nope.....back to the lift entrance and waited some more...at 6pm he turned up, he got lost in Melbourne Central and couldn't find me!!! I had to chuckle as usually it is me that gets lost!! We jumped in the car and went to look for a parking spot near the Sherlock Holmes....not such a bright idea at 6pm on St Patricks Day!!! Eventually we fluked a parking meter, parked and wandered to the pub. We met hubby's sister, her husband, daughter and son and his partner and had a great evening with them. Shane was busy working behind the bar.
our beautiful niece Tessa..

the Hubble family...

a Hubble and a hubby

myself and Ellen...
Shane joined us for his very quikc dinner break!!

On Sunday morning I made two blocks for Aussie Heros...they are making several quilts for the chapel in Kabul
mine were purple (surprise!!) and wonky log cabins. I have decided I do wonky very well!! lol!!
I am off now to trace off another two New Hexagon blocks while the spag bol sauce cooks away
I have decided to change to the colours so am off to explore my stash!!I didn't mean to have waffled on so long seem to have been a bit carried away!!!
Happy sewing.

Out and about

Today has been a busy day, this morning I went into Geelong for the Guild meeting...
one of the beautiful show and tell quilts today

the Easter bonnet parade!!!
After the meeting but before the speaker ( a lady was going to talk about her Vintage quilts) I had to leave as I had kitchen duty at the Seachange Quilters show
here is my Charm Square Sampler hanging in the show

and the Bordered Diamonds quilt with the Samoan fabrics, looks very bright compared to the quilts around it!!

A general view,

and the light is not good, but this is a Michelle Ridgway pattern..the calendar bears, had to sneak the photo so sadly it is not so good!!
Had better head off and get some dinner cooked!!
Happy sewing.

Thursday today!!

This morning after a slow start I headed of to the Bellarine Quilters sewing session and had a sew with the lovely ladies there...I finished the Dresden plate...yay!!!!
I am happy with it and the other ladies were too!! Bonus!!! One day I would like to do more Dresden plates...one day!! Lol!!

a new lady came a long today, I am ashamed to say I can't remember her name!!! This is a beautiful quilt she made in Cambodia while her hubby was doing voluntary work there...the centre part, the rest was done in Aus. Isn't it beautiful? It is the Wonky Stars pattern.
I have shoved down lunch and we are now off to the city to take hubby to the hospital for some blood tests, then to meet family for a birthday gathering at the  Sherlock Holmes pub...we forgot it was St Patricks day today and that they have Guiness on tap...could be a loud  dinner!!
Happy sewing.

St Leonards sewing

This morning despite the strong wind I rode my bike down the street to go to sewing group...three of us are working on the Dresden plate for the Bellarine Quilters raffle quilt...Jill has finished hers so didn't have it with her, but Mary had hers
Mary is making hers with all Japanese fabrics...looks very pretty.
On the way home the wind had stopped...well very nearly. no surf this afternoon
tide was way out, but the sun was wonderful....love those clouds

the pelicans had returned...they disappeared in the bad weather yesterday

interesting place to sit

this does not look comfortable but the pelican was happy!!
this afternoon I had a swim...well a wallow!!

I have been working on this little quilt, just need to sew closed the opening and trim the cottons,

and this was already finished, they are going to the Bellarine Quilters tomorrow to add to the pile of Quilts for others. Off to sort some dinner now!
Happy sewing.
