Yesterday

hubby and I headed up to Castlemaine, so hubby could cut the grass around a plaque near the freeway. The plaque was on the site of a friends house, the house was compulsorily acquired when the freeway was extended. It is now a memorial to hubby's Dad and 3 war gaming friends.
Off up the hill he goes

the memorial

It is a beautiful and peaceful site, only the occasional traffic noise from the freeway below.
I did do some sewing last night, I wanted to just sit and sew, so I dragged out a shoe box that came with a fabric collection I bought and sewed these,
the strips were all cut, they need a good press, but they should make a very scrappy quilt top.
Today I have been down the street on my bike

the pelicans find the best places to sit!! This one must be awaiting the return of the fisherman at the boat ramp.

It is a bit windy, but heading home the wind is behind me so it is much easier!

the flannelette strips now have plain strips and sides, I think I have enough to make the backing in the plain fabric too.
Don't forget tonight is FNWF, you can link up for an evening of virtual fun and sewing over with Cheryll at her blog.
Happy sewing.

  5. You live in a lovely place, able to ride your bike down to the beach when you wish. The plaque is a wonderful thing, and if the freeway is that far off, why did they acquire the house and land? It seems like it would still be such a nice place to live!
