Monday

Today I was over at the Bellarine Quilters sit and sew day and I forgot to take my camera!!! How could I do that??? There was some amazing show and tell and I can't share it sadly! It was good to catch up with the ladies there.
Some sewing has been happening here
I have been adding a border to the clamshells, I have three to go on one side and then across the bottom...I think it needs a good iron!!

the tomatoes needed picking today, I for a kilo and a half...

and despite the netting the birds have eaten most of these plums, this is my share!! The snow peas are still producing a few now and then, they are so fresh and crunchy.
I am off now to prep some tomatoes for chutney.
Happy sewing.

This year I joined in the Australia Day Swap organised by Anthea.  Here is what Anthea said

Let's show our love of our great country & have a good fun Aussie themed swap!

Here's the deal:
FIVE items are chosen & sent to your partner. They each must start with one letter from the word AUSTRALIA & at least one item must bear the Australian flag.

My partner, Lyn, was very generous

I got a parcel for each letter of the word Australia, beautifully wrapped and with stickers
and Inside there was
A - Australian key fob, U - utensil (a melon baller), S - snakes ( Lyn must know something as I LOVE these!!), T - teatowel with a koala and a thimble, R - ruler and red rick rack, A - Australian note pad, L - light (a usb plug in light), I - Indigenous animal coin purse (so cute) and A - Australian bottle cooler!! Thank you so much Lyn, this was a joy to open. This swap even impressed my 27 year old son!! Impressive huh!!! Lol!! I don't know if Lyn has a blog, but I will find out.
You can go over to Anthea's blog and see what the other swappers sent and received.
I wrapped most of mine before I remembered to take a photo
a little dilly bag in Australian designed fabric, some Australian fabric pieces and fun glasses,
I will get some other photos when Kaylee does her blog post.
Happy Australia Day.

Bye Bye Eddie

and now he has gone to his new home.
Yesterday afternoon was spent at the beach
Hard work but someone had to do it!! lol!!

One of the Bellarine Quilter ladies helped me in her studio...I think I even learned something!!
Back at home hubby decided to paint the tram that goes with the conductor
Looks pretty good, much better than I could do!! Next week I have to get on to quilting and then embellishing and mounting it on a 20 x16 canvas for a display in Geelong later in the year. Exciting!!
I have tried to do some quilting on my Christmas Row by Row
The reindeer are done

now I am trying small stipple..it is hard work!!! Now I need to take a break for dinner cooking!
I am off to visit a friend over the other side of Melbourne tomorrow, so also need to pack some clothes and sewing things.

Meet Eddie

Today I have spent  all day creating Eddie. Preparing the pattern, cutting out, and sewing and stuffing...then more sewing...
Ready to sew

The supervisor is in place and snoring
I managed with most of the sewing until it came to putting the bottom piece on , that was a slow and tricky job...it took me 4 attempts to get the legs attached properly, the fabric kept sliding and the seam was too narrow and when I turned it around the wrong way the tops of the legs kept popping out!!

Finally it is all together, now the stuffing. I had made a bag and filled it with beans to make the teddy a bit heavier - he is destined to be a comfort teddy where son#1 works.

Meet Eddie!!! Just needs some surgical help on his back seam and he is all done.
This pattern comes from Shiny happy world there are many wonderful patterns over there, well worth a look. Some of the childrens quilts are wonderful.
Time for some dinner I think.
Happy sewing.

Yesterday and today

The days are zipping by here...I have some good books from the library and they seem to soak up a lot of time somehow!! I have joined along with other bloggers to try and use scraps and yesterday I decided to try and make cotton reel blocks, straight forward I thought, but no, my reel ends came out the wrong way
And had to be unpicked and started again

The centres went together well, this months colour as you can see is purple.

I have now finished 5, but will post them on Saturday for the link up.

I got together another quarter of the foundation pieced block, once again the top corner is short, but hopefully within the seam line.

Today there were more tomatoes to gather so I got some chutney together, this smells so good as it is cooking, I hope it tastes ok!!

All ready for a label.

The tablet has decided this is a sideways photo for some reason, this ismas far as I have managed to get on the next lot of foundation piecing today. Hopefully the block will be done tomorrow.
We had amazing sky's when the Supervisor and I went for a walk yesterday

Happy sewing.

Monday

sees the start of meetings at the Bellarine Quilters and there was a good turn out today, there was a show and tell
I don't know whoes quilt this is but there is to be a class making the window sections at Bellarine next Saturday

this is a quilt made by Rae, with panels and she tried out different quilting in each square..it looks fantastic.

Di basted this quilt in the morning, it was from a class she did when living in NZ

Sue made these tables covers for her grand kids to take to school..love the fabrics!

I did a few more leaves and now have moved on to a flower, I think I have four flowers and one bird to go!!
Yesterday hubby and I decided to go for a walk in the afternoon, so we drove, in a round about way (yep we did a tiki tour as I got lost!!) to Point Impossible, just past Breamlea.
From there we followed a road
not very interesting, and came out on another road, then we turned left and went to a beach, as we could not find the walking trail we were supposed to be following. It turned out the beach was a nudist beach, so hubby said keep your head down and do not stare!!! Lol!! So I did and we walked to Torquay
Glimpse of the sea

we walked from WAY past that headland you can see in the distance

we got an ice cream at Torquay at the surf club and then headed back...walking on the sand is not easy, I had some sore muscles when we got back to the car and two blistered toes! The biggest challenge was walking back along the nudist beach for a short way and not looking at two men going for a stroll along the beach in nothing but their hats!! I hope they had sun screen on!!
I am off to do some sewing, or maybe cutting for sewing before getting dinner.
Happy sewing.
