Back again

This last week has flown past, Monday we went and said goodbye to Donna
Her friendship quilt was hanging at the front of the building, her eagle painting nearby. The fabrics in the quilt were from a swap and were from the US, Canada, Germany, Australia and NZ. I can remember going to Donna's place several years ago with the quilting group and we looked at the blocks laid on Donna's bed, then hand stitched the blocks into rows and rows into the quilt top. One of Donna's friends quilted the quilt and another friend did the binding so it would be ready for the funeral. It was very special to see it there.
Tuesday was a quiet day The Supervisor and I had a wander along the beach
Tuesday was calm but overcast

The supervisor had a swim, well a paddle!
Wednesday was sit and sew at St Leonards and then lunch with the girls for a birthday, then Ingrid and Jasper came for a visit.
We had a walk along the beach Thursday afternoon
the pelicans were resting on our way past, but on the way back someone was coming to feed them and they were most excited

Not sure there is enough room for everyone on the pole!

Not much sewing has happened here this week, but I was given a bag of knitted squares by Wendy from the St Leonard's sewing group and I have started on them
They will make a wonderful blanket.
The Supervisor and Jasper get on quite well together,
we did have a stand off in the doorway at one stage, quite friendly, Jasper just giving Tupai some room.

Such a cute face

and quite at home!!

I still can't get the correct focus on the desert rose flowers, but there are a few more today.
I had better be off and get cutting some fabric for One Block Wednesday.
Happy stitching.

  1. We had a lovely visit again Susan, thank you so much. I used my jelly bean rubbish bag in the car on the way home...soooo handy! Jasper has been down in the dumps ever since getting home he misses you guys so much! Not even interested in his afternoon walk! Wonderful photos of the pelicans they really do look so prehistoric when being fed. Apologies for keeping you from the knitting squares and one block Wednesday sewing but it was worth it! Very relaxing...now into the garden I go!

  3. How lovely the quilt was finished for Donna's farewell.... may the happy memories hold close.
Love the ungainly pelicans... they always look like they shouldn't be able to sit on little poles.. amazing balance skills.
The knitted blanket will be lovely … and a nice peaceful job sewing the blocks together....

  4. How sad Donnas funeral would've been Sue. It reminds me of Rosalie Dekkers funeral where they hung her quilts in the chapel (I saw it online). Your pictures from your walk are just beautiful. We have had some rain last night so fingers crossed for more this weekend.
