Back home

I am back home again after a very hot weekend at Eve's house. On Saturday I compared the temp at home, 23 deg C and near to Eve's 36 deg C!! Made me want to go straight back to the beach and enjoy the cool afternoon breeze!! We spent our time indoors with the air con on, I did walk Eve's dog morning and evening, much to his excitement!! A little sewing was done, I now have 5 to add to the finished pile. We had a spectacular sunset one night at Eve's

A large grouop of cockatoos were feeding on the side of the road one morning, eating the flower heads of the dandelions

This one was watching us from above. They are such beautiful birds.

The sunflower was in glorious bloom, there was even a bee visiting.

Not sure what this was but it was a beautiful flower.

Basil the Bad in a rare calm moment (ie just after a LONG walk)
Today I have had a lovely day stitching and chatting and lunching with some of the lovely girls from the Bellarine Quilters. Jill and Mary have signed up to do a BOM with Shiralee Stitches

Jill has finished block 1

and now is on to block 2. They both look amazing.

These flowers were in Sandies back yard, still blooming despite the heat, they are hollyhocks, stunning huh!!

More of the same.

The Supervisor gave my bags a thorough check when I got home, just to make sure I had not been with another dog!!

Finally here are the finished stars
and a stack of finished stars, might be time to sew a few together and see what they look like.

I sewed together a few of the square shapes with the soft iron on papers inside, not sure that I like them yet, but will continue on and see how we go.
I am off to sort some dinner.
Have a wonderful week.

  1. Some lovely blocks there, beautiful flowers and those cockatoos are lovely birds but not when they wake me up dropping fruit onto the roof! They love taking one bite out of our peaches and nectarines then turfing them. Grrrr. Hope you are keeping cool.

  2. That sunset looks like a raging fire. It shows how hot it has been. We all survived the heat. Happy stitching.

  4. I love those cockatoos... we get one or two here and they call out if the seed tray is empty. It has been hot down south.... glad your cool has come in. Lovely stitching... I do like the look of your stars - they will be lovely all together...

  7. Always good to get away for a little while even if it is to hotter areas.
    Thank goodness for the air-conditioning.
Poor old supervisor, doesn't he trust you ?
The stars will look great all together.

  8. It looks like you have enough stars there to form your own constellation - wow! I don't have a lawn with dandelions anymore, but if I did I would be asking for a cockatoo or two to come and eat them up for me! By the way, that is a STRIKING sunset photo - maybe it makes the heat wave worthwhile?
