Ondrea very kindly sent me these books to read, I am enjoying the first one already.
The figs are ripening beautifully
I saw this butterfly in the back yard, but was not quick enough to get it with open wings.
Yesterdays bounty from the garden, another 2 big jars of fig and ginger jam
The rainbow lorikeets have moved into the fig tree
Caught this very pretty butterfly
Ingrid and I both have the Anthology book and have challenged each other to make a block a week. this is the first block cut and ready to sew
as I was cutting I thought I would do a second
# 1 finished, slightly wonky,
#2 finished, these blocks finish at 4 x 5 inches
Pat Sloan has an April challenge, The Stay at home Quilt Along, happening at her facebook page and the challenge is to make a snowball block each day for the month of April. By the end of the month you have a quilt top. Not bad I thought, could be manageable. Pat has suggested using happy fabrics, fabric that makes you smile. I am using fabric I have been given to make an oncology quilt. I think I will use gray sashings, still thinking on that.
I am off now to draw a pencil line on the back of the yellow squares and get today's block sewn.
Happy sewing.
You get such lot done each day, well done. The fruit in your garden looks great, lovely to see the birds and butterflies enjoying it, too! The books your friend sent look great, enjoy reading. And well done on the sewing. I smile every time I see our Minion's header, too! Have a great day, stay safe, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYum! I love figs.
ReplyDeleteYour blocks look lovely. Have fun with your snowballs.
It's good that we are encouraging each other to focus on happier things. I'm so fed up with hearing how many people are infected etc, I just want to get on in my happy bubble and see and make lovely items.
Stay safe and happy.
Hello Sue

ReplyDeleteI’m always amazed by all you do! The books look interesting.
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled to learn that you are feeling better. We live in strange times - wonky is the new normal. The orange shoofly block is lovely. Sending best wishes for your safety and sanity. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteLove the bright colours in the stitch along... look forward to the end of April to see it finished. Stay safe...xox

Your butterfly is a yellow admiral.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books.
Love those blocks. Did you get carried away and make more? The snowball block idea is good. May think about that. Good to know that you are enjoying the book.
ReplyDeleteThe garden is being good to you. Ondrea as very thoughtful to provided reading material, seeing as the library is closed. They should be good. You and Ingrid should have fun with your stitch along. Isn't it great how the quilting community is coming together with projects.
ReplyDeleteSuch a variety of things Sue - your figs look great. Those books look really interesting - let me know how you enjoy them as I would like to look into that author.
ReplyDeleteYay to Ondrea for the reading rescue! That lorikeet is enjoying that fig! I am so glad you are feeling better and enjoying your garden and sewing too xx
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures Sue. You can capture a butterfly in a jam jar and pop it into the fridge for an hour or so. If you then tip the butterfly out onto a sheet of paper in the sun you have a good chance of catching a good photograph as the butterfly warms up and opens its wings. Enjoy your books and projects. xx
ReplyDeleteOh man I have got so behind in my reading! Marie Bostwick is currently readying (out loud) her first book in that series every day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONt5RQqeOR8&t=5s Good to hear you are feeling better xx
