Photos on the way

We have seen a few churches on our way yesterday, sometimes the spire or tower appears over the top of trees on the distance
they remind me very much of England. These were in fact made  by English settlers so I suppose they brought a little of home with them
Westbury had metal silhouettes telling us about important people in the past
Westbury had a town square complete with stocks
and beautiful old trees
a famous cricket player
huge cricket stumps at the park entrance
and the sisters who ran the pub. It is great to see women in history remembered too.
Happy days.

  1. I always wonder how on earth those grand old churches were built without the modern tools we have today. It must have been terribly laborious for the builders....stonemasons etc. The metal silhouettes are a lovely touch.

  6. Thanks for identifying cricket stumps! I'd have had NO idea what those were. Still not sure what they're FOR, but interesting anyway. The metal signs are unique to my experience. I like them.
