We stopped at the Post Office to get some stamps and postcards, I was amazed there was a PO here and it was working. The lovely lady here was up for a chat.
Not sure I would eat here 😕 A general view of the utes
We then drove back to West Wyalong and up to Condoblin, to see the painted Ute's in the paddock. There is a new info centre being built here, car park being built and lots of dirt, so we had to walk around, but that was good.
Clever play on words!!
Dame Edna in the dunny
A general view
The oldest Holden shown as the Australian coat of Arms
There were lots more utes but you get the idea. There are different ute pictures on Raewyns blog Most were donated and all were painted/decorated by different people.
There are some wonderful old buildings here. After viewing the utes We headed off to Gilgandra via Naramine where we thought there was a painted water tank. We asked a couple of locals where the tank was, they looked confused and said there wasn't a painted tank or Silo in their town. They kindly gave us directions to the back road to Gilgandra and said be aware of kangaroos 😱. I am aware at dusk that kangaroos could be crossing the roads and honestly am a bit nervous of them. There was no problem, not one kangaroo was sighted! Raewyn was driving and drove us really well to Gilgandra. we did a bit of Tiki touring around to find the motel and settled in for the night.
Off to Baradine tomorrow!!
You are enjoying a real 'back to the past'adventure, wonderful. Beware of kangaroos sounds funny for us, we just have boars or deer that often cross the road at night. Enjoy your tour and keep the pics coming! Huggs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteMore amazing murals, artistic pieces and old buildings. Must be wonderful to live in an area like this
ReplyDeleteMore amazing artwork - lovely to see. xx
ReplyDeleteI suppose by now you've figured out if your besties forever or only for tripping! LOL What great views and fun had while sight-seeing and getting yourselves down the road. I love how all the artists took advantage of the canvas they used, like the sheep behind the railing. What interesting things you've seen way out beyond the normal busy routes. Thanks so much for sharing more of OZ.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting trip! Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteNow you are getting to areas we know. There used to be a lovely little craft shop at Weethalle -The Whistle Stop Craft Shop. That silo was the first we ever saw. The utes are really clever, aren’t they.
ReplyDeleteThose utes were clever weren't they? And it was a great little visit to the township. Ahhh the drive to the invisible silo/watertank----sigh!!!
