Happy campers at the machine.
I have some show and tell photos but that needs reducing or it will be a HUGE post!!
Thank you Chooky for a great few days.
Happy stitching.

Chookshed Stitchers April Challenge

The challenge for me this month was the Winding Ways quilt. I bought a kit from Shiralee Stitches, a panel of fabric and borders, a quilt you could make in a weekend.
Well it took me longer than a weekend but the quilt is finished.
Yep a cheaters quilt as Lea said at Baradine as she showed her made from scratch, beautiful, Winding Ways Quilt. 😁
Very happy to have #9 finished.
Happy stitching.

Shopping

Quite a bit of shopping happened on the way to Baradine, while at Baradine and on the way home

these photos are back to front, but this fabric came from Lizzies in Geelong on my way home, 2 backings at $8 per meter and ends of bolts half  price! Bargain!!

patterns, bag handles and felt from  Crafters Cottage the quilt shop in Coonabarabran

fabric from SewFab  in Narrandera, the ladies there were lovely, helping a sewing group and selling fabric at the same time. I am sure I have more things but might have to go dig in a bag for them.

these were from Nel's in Temora, we stopped for a coffee and this shop just happened to be over the road, there was so much fabric, pre cuts and panels, I could have spent a fortune!! I settled for some pre printed hexies to make another cheat quilt top and backing fabric at $10 a meter.
This was the Scrub Stitchin' goodies bag from Baradine, minus the coconut ice Branda made, that was delicious and the chocolate, that found another home 😁. There was a lovely mug rug from Di, sewing roll pattern from Hatched and Patched, the fabric was from the pop up shop from The Crafters Cottage in Coonabarabran. There is a purple thang in there too I forgot to get it out.

And this beautiful mug.
I am off to do some sewing, something I have been promising myself since 10am and it is now 2.11pm!!
Happy Stitching.

Group project

Chooky emailed everyone going to Baradine about a kind of braid quilt she was making. Several of us bought the necessary rulers and we began on the weekend

Our first look at Chooky's braid. A small piece of fabric is attached to each braid before sewing together, to create the zig zag look.

Here is Raewyns, and then they multiplied

Mine and Raewyns together. Two ladies made table runners with their jelly rolls. Once you sew all the pieces together, you trim the ends, measure the whole length , divide it by 5, sew in sashings and a border and you have a quilt. How good is that ? I have just finished sewing all the pieces together, I hope to get back to it this weekend.
My phone battery is nearly flat so I had better finish up.
Happy stitching.

Baradine Saturday night

Saturday afternoon we have to leave the main room at Baradine, so set up for dinner can happen. Most of the ladies had drinks outside and watched the sunset,  I relaxed in the room and read.
The theme for this meet was Star and could be interpreted in any form.
Raewyn and I wore the stars for the night

Lea was the Milky Way, her necklace was eaten as the night went on 😁
Tina and Harriet were Star Wars characters,  they come up with wonderful ideas those two!
The table and the room looked wonderful. Decorated by Chooky, Di and Miranda.

Christine and Janice wearing their stars.More of Baradine soon.
Happy stitching.

Tiki Tour back day 2 and a half

We continued our morning doing Adventure Labs at the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens in the Children's Zoo. They have some native animals and domestic animals and lots of birds.
Sleepy dingos

The back end of a Wombat
Wombat on his rounds
That is all the zoo photos I took - do I hear a big sigh of relief?
I forgot this photo before, it was in the Memorial Garden and is the Jolly Swagman. Although he didn't look too jolly to me!!
So off to Melbourne we drove, one geocache was captured on the way.

An old tree stump on the side of the road.
We stayed overnight at the airport and then had to say goodbye the next morning - something I have done lots since I have lived in Aus, but it never gets easier!
That is all the Tiki tour photos, I will organise some Baradine photos and shopping photos soonish.
Happy sewing.
