South Australia part three.....

There has been a lot of this....
and this....

over the weekend, but we did get to go for a walk down along the linear park (and do some geocaching)
Hee hee!! I have managed to convert Angela...she thinks geocaching will be a great activity to do with her grand daughters.....several caches are near the parks they go to..

and the duck pond....we grabbed a break in the shocking weather to go for a walk...was good to get out in the fresh air for a while....the battery on Angela's phone died just as we neared the last cache...but she spotted it no problems! Once it was signed and returned we had a light rain shower so was time to come home.
I took a photo of the hexie quilt this morning...
I hope by later this evening there will be a change in it...I have been sewing away today!!
We head home tomorrow...hope the weather is a little kinder than today!
Happy sewing.

South Australia part two....

....we were up bright and early and off in the car to look for a geocache we hadn't found the previous day...hubby was secretly, no publicly pleased when the batteries in the gps went flat....so off to the old goal we went,
..hubby finally found it, a film cannister hidden in the wall, which sparked a conversation about the time hubby worked at Kodak and how the cannister was probably made in the building he worked in.....see how good geocaching is for the whole family!!! Lol!!
From there we went on the the lake...
no photo as we were in a rush to get going on the road to Adelaide....
just out of interest as were were driving I turned on the gps and found there was a cache in a ruined church on a hill...only 2km away, as I told hubby we passed the road and then we were 4 km further on...missed that one!! Next was Wrights Beach....so I said turn left here.....facial expression was not happy...but...
after a short walk I ended up here....and after walking around several bushes in circles I finally found the cache....Yay!!!
....back to the car once again with flat batteries...note to self...buy better quality batteries next time!!!
We stopped for lunch at Tailem Bend....
and found these down the street

a bit of lawn mowing happening!

bride dressed and ready.....

ready to celebrate??

my favourite!!

as we travelled on towards Adelaide the weather packed up....

low cloud in the hills...
so here we are....the men folk are busy organising the soldiers for tomorrow, so a good chance to sit and sew...

I had some company.....
watched the sun go down, then enjoyed a lovely chicken curry for dinner...
off to do some knitting now...
happy sewing.

In South Australia.....

Do you know that song??In South Australia I was born....heave away, haul away???? My DH is seriously risking his life being extremely shortened by singing it since we have arrived here in Robe!!! Once it is in his head that is the end of peace and quiet!!!
We came through Cressy and up to Hamilton, then through to Penola and now to Robe, has been a cloudy day, but not a lot of traffic on the road which is good.
Of course I had to go out and do some geocaching...no luck at the first site, but found one at the old cemetry, it was interesting walking around the old head stones , reading the names and the family connections.....

..walking with DH...me as usual lagging behind!! lol!!

we walked back past the boat harbour....cold but lovely  sky.....

...waiting for the sunset...sadly it was not to be, too many clouds on the horizon.
Off now to the motel for a G & T and some stitching.
Happy sewing.

Happy travels

The last couple of days we have been wandering along various roads,  through Ballarat to Hamilton, through a huge thunderstorm, there was much lightening and thunder and very heavy rain, and we finished the first day in Mount Gambier.
We got lunch at Hamilton and then ended up at Nigretta Falls to stop and eat.....not much water on the falls today!
After putting our stuff in the hotel and having a much needed cuppa we had a look at this place...a sinkhole that used to be someone's garden, I have forgotten the name of the place...this was back in the 1800's.....it was restored to its glory in the early 1900's

Amazing place, many levels of garden and shade loving plants with steep limestone walls
I had a chuckle at this sign, to me a Hoo Hoo is a big weta like bug that is attracted to lights in the summer time in NZ, when we used to go to Old Time Dances with Mum and Dad these bugs would fly in the open windows and get stuck in people's hair....they had little hooks on their legs that gripped and it was so hard to get them out....

This is the Blue Lake, but it is rainy and dull so not shown at it's best

And this is the Green Lake...again it is a very dull day.

There are lots of these old limestone houses near the lakes

And some of them have amazing rose gardens around them sadly I didn't get a photo of one!!
Today we continued our travels and stopped for a look at Robe......what a lovely place! Of course it helps that the sun is shining and it is a beautiful day.

Beautiful coast line.

Panorama of the bay we were standing by

Guess who was off the path and wandering around to get the best photo shot!!

The next bay....isn't the water colour beautiful?

I asked DH to take a photo of me  showing how great is this place......by the time he figured I out how to take the photo, it looked very forced!! Oh well....at least it shows I was there!!

Next we passed the big crayfish. ..never one to miss a photo opportunity we skidded to a stop and off I went!! Lol!

Next stop was Tailem Bend....we hadn't seen the township before so was interesting to have a look, this is the train station. Next stop Adelaide......temp outside the car 30 degC, inside the car feels like 40!! Was very happy to arrive in Adelaide.
Have a great day.
