AOP December market

December market in Gisborne - very hot and very busy. We did really well for AOP and took $934. Our big girl got loads of attention once again and had her photo taken many times.

Misty December morning

Usually by now these misty mornings have long gone in December, but here was another one in the second week of the month. Love them!!!!

Tommy's quilt

My second attempt at a French Braid quilt finished and delivered!! Was really happy with the colours on this one.

Taupo

How is this for a view - shame about the spots on the camera lens - was hot in the car and cold when we got out so I guess that's what caused it. I have been to Taupo several times and it isn't often that you get to look down the lake at the mountains in all their glory!

Kerikeri

Kerikeri
I had a wander around here - the old buildings are beautiful - the church up on the hill tiny but has the best stain glass windows and while I was there a man was playing the church organ - made it very atmospheric!!

Rainbow Warrior memorial

Made it to Matauri Bay, Northland, NZ in the holidays - what a beautiful place. I walked up the hill and found the memorial to the Rainbow Warrior - sat and looked over the ocean - beautiful, calm, warm and wonderful!

French braid quilt

Quilt is finally on the bed - is a little small but sits ok on the top.

Train quilt

The train quilt is finished and gone to it's new home! The applique of the tracks took a long time but the end result shows it was worth all the effort! I am very happy with the finished quilt!

Crafting weekend

We had a great sewing weekend at St Leonards, bit cold and we didn't get to the beach but we got lots of sewing done - I have nearly finished the kiwi quilt, am very happy with how it has turned out. Just have to sew a black border all around and then it is off for quilting.

Melbourne Zoo

Baby Mali came across a mother duck and about 8 ducklings in the pond - the duck quacked, Mali squealed and ran - I don't know who was more scared Mali or the mother duck!! Was very funny to watch Mali running back to her mother squealing and squeaking.
Where are the treats?

Melbourne Zoo

Who was watching who here?

Melbourne Zoo

Had a while in the new seal area - quite impressive watching from under water.

Melbourne Zoo

Spent part of the day yesterday at the zoo on a school trip - managed to sit and watch the orangs for a while, one was looking for his treats in boxes - I noted he left behind his broccilli - not big on greens huh!!

Tuesday

I could not believe the frost this morning - it was white everywhere - and the sun was trying to peek through a little gap between the hills and the clouds - but not for long as the clouds lowered and everything went gray. The sun came out again at about 11am - was happy to see and feel it!

Gisborne park

Monday morning in the park - was frosty in places and cold but a beautiful still day and the reflections on the creek were amazing - love the blue sky we get after a frosty morning!

Craft fair

Had a great day at the Craft Fair at Jeffs Shed on Saturday - made a Lucky Japanese Owl - surprise huh!! They bring luck to the person who gives them I was told on Saturday - Hamish the Owl is made and sitting on the bench ready for a visit to the sewing group tomorrow. As usual there was lots to look at and be tempted to buy - I did weaken and but a pattern with bees on it, plus some fabric plus a beautiful blue fabric I can felt onto (when I get brave!). I found a hanger with stars on it for the owl wall quilt, wasn't looking for it but there it was!!

Isn't this a beautiful quilt?? Could imagine myself sitting by the waterfall.

Owls

Aahh that's better~ two awake owls and a wee sleepy owl who hasn't quite woken up yet!!

French Braid Quilt

The french braid quilt came back from Deep Creek Quilting - many thanks Wilma - it has been neatened off and the binding sewn on - boy what a job for me to get the final seam done!! I am so pleased with the colours and the pattern both front and back.

Owls

The owls are finished!! Yippee!! They are a little dull in this photo - think I had better take another one with the flash!

Busy weekend

I had such a productive weekend - I surprised myself!! The train quilt had some more quilting done on it - am not really happy with what I have done but will look at it for a few days and then decide what to do. At least it is slowly coming along!!

Owls

Had a trip up to Kyneton with Marg and Sylvia last Friday and found this wonderful book - Favourite Techniques by Pat Sloan and on the front were these cute as owls!! So I had to have it and came home thinking about what I could do. Went to see Lorraine the next day to get some of the dark blue starry night fabric for the background 'cos owls come out at night don't they? I had some batiks with gold thru' them that I wanted to use and here is the result - still work to be done, the eyes need to be finished but I am really happy with how they have turned out do far. Big smiles on my face!!! I get so excited when an idea actually works!!

Daylesford

Spent the day in Daylesford yesterday - foggy from Woodend to Daylesford and foggy all day. We were told it was 4 degrees at one stage - sure felt like it. Eve had a great time in the antique shop, I sat by the pot belly stove and sewed! Sadly I forgot to take my camera!!

Love the sand, water, smell, space, sound...love it, love it, love it!!!!

Weekend away

We had a wonderful weekend away at St Leonards -lots of sewing, knitting, crocheting, talking, laughing, eating and walking on the beach. Sheer bliss!

Sunset

I went outside to get the washing in on Thursday evening and had to run back inside and get the camera - the colours in the sky were amazing.

Sunrise

I love this time of year, the sunrise's are so beautiful - the colours change so quickly and it is so cold outside - have to run out get the photo and run back in again.

Tupai

Tupai of course was very interested in the strange thing next door and spent ages sitting at the fence watching.

Visitor

There was a visitor in the yard next door on Sunday, he had a look at us and then carried on eating, not a care in the world.

Happy photo

Doesn't this make you smile?? So cute!!

Garden

Pukeko appears out of the vegetation!!

Garden

After 2 1/2 hours of hard work managed to claim some of the garden back - lovely to be out in the sun today. My theory of putting down bark chips to stop the weeds has failed miserably!! Now trying more paving stones that I bought to do mosaics on but haven't. back sore now but happy to get it done!!

Residents in the garden

Shane found the pobble bonk frog in the garden yesterday - was quite relaxed and didn't seem to mind having it's photo taken. When Shane put it back in the garden it sat for a while then hopped off.

Orangutan

My companion in the car! I had a stall for the Australian Orangutan Project at the Gisborne market and had to take everything back to Brighton on the Monday. The big girl just fitted in the front passenger seat - we got a few strange looks on our way to the city. I was really happy with the market we took $620 which was good for June and a cold showery day. We sold 3 adoptions which was great.

Owls

Three little owls ready to go to Donna and join her owl family!

Gisborne park

Was walking Tupai on Monday afternoon and was amazed at the cloud formations, it felt like the sky was huge. Photo is a little dark sadly but clouds look good. Also found a red spotty toadstool pushing through under an oak tree.

Fruity ladies

Love those fruity ladies - simple bed topper quilt - one of my first attempts.

Beautiful fabric

Bought this beautiful fabric at the Quilt Show at the Exhibition buildings (the center piece of fabric) now I am thinking of what to do with it. Kind of like having a blast of summer in the room.

Tupai the Chowchow

Awww! Isn't he cute?? Doing his best to not look at the camera. The family pet who rules the family.
