FNWF update

I was sewing away last night and hubby was organising dinner, his night to cook, which means he orders in pizza, only to ring and find they had run out of gluten free bases!!  No pizza for me, so we decided to have fish and chips instead!! Meant I had to go and get it but at least I didn't have to cook. I did manage to get quite a lot done so I was a happy sewer!
some stitches were done on the hexie quilt

I made one more New Hexagon block, this project has been sadly neglected!

and the binding and hanging sleeve are on the wall hanging...just need to stitch down the sleeve edge. Wobbled off to bed at 11.15pm!!! Happy but tired!!
You can see what the other FNWF'ers did by visiting the lovely hostess Cheryll.
Today I have been to a UFO day at Port Arlington, soup and rolls were supplied for lunch and much chatting and sewing happened
Jill working on her clamshells carefully!!

Judy and Carleen sewing away

Barbara was working on her beautiful quilt...

with the most beautiful Japanese fabrics
it took me from 10.30 until 2pm to make this star block, not perfect but I am happy with it, it will go with the other Star blocks I have made...it is called the Pinwheel Star, there was quite a lot of unsewing today!!!

I also joined a challenge from the Gisborne Quilters ...we were given a country and had to come up with a quilt, could be from postcard to one meter square... the country I was given was Finland. So after much pondering I decided to draw in chalk on the purple fabric, paint in some areas and then free motion quilt...this represents the mountains and the Northern lights.
Happy sewing.

Yesterday..

I had sewing group at St Leonards....I had shown the ladies my Star Fruit cushion and they all wanted to make one, so we had a little tutorial session, with them sewing and me running around the table helping!!

only three sewing as Mary fell and broke her arm!!

..at midday we packed up...two finished,  one just needs it's hand sewing and buttons...

then I went to off  Gisborne and had dinner with these lovely ladies .....who weren't paying attention!!!
well only Donna, Marg and I. Too much conversation going on I think!!
On the way back to Margs house we had a look at some of the local houses decorated for Christmas
part of one house...

another window..the old TV has a snow scene in it!!

Marg met Father Christmas

I did too!! Look at the cheeky elf!!!!! :-o

the reindeer are all in their stables for the night...

another meeting...

On the way home I stopped in Geelong to look for a cache

Had better off and get dinner I guess.

Last night...

we had a gathering of the Gisborne Quilting group at Margs house and Tania taught us Foundation piecing......her pattern was for the log cabin....but I decided to do a block from the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler as I am already working on that...the first bag of pattern and fabric I opened, I had prepared it at home, I found I had left out one vital piece of material!!! Duh!!! It was the number 1 piece!! Back to the drawing board for me...luckily I had some others prepared and they actually had the right bits of fabric so I was able to get sewing.....
much business happening here...now where did I put that piece of fabric???

Tania supervising Donna....

Marg trimming her block...

the finished blocks and mine not finished just yet...some very clever ladies in this group and Tania's teaching was wonderful...

Ta da!!! This is the block Night and Noon....took me another 40 minutes or so to get it finished...

These are all mini quilts Marina (Gisborne Marina) has made using foundation piecing...

she just used scraps...

Isn't this so pretty..

and this...sorry blogger has turned this around!!   Didn't take many photos as I was busy working!! I can hear the phew's from here!!! Lol!!
Happy sewing.

Back home......

Here I am once again back home...I had a lovely visit with the Gisborne Girls, stayed with Tania and caught up on all that has been happening, visited the LQS, I tried not to but what can you do???
I came out without doing too much bank account damage...Lol!!....I found some beautiful Cottage Garden threads to add to my collection and a pack to make a pincushion.....they are hexies...what could I do????
We had dinner (fish and chips) at Margs to celebrate her birthday, this is the beautiful table runner Tracee made for her, isn't it lovely???

Sadly you can't see the stitchery clearly, but this is the wonderful cushion Tania made for Marg, perfect for the sewing room...

..dinner is done, time for photos....

the birthday girl with her balloons...

Later the girls from Wednesday night group came up to Marg's...this is a baby quilt Marina made.....

another Marina creation she is busy binding,,,,,

It is a hard life for small dogs!!! Lol!! Resting on Tania's hexies!

busy fingers....

...and from the other direction....

Marg made this pretty little bird pincushion...isn't it cute??

The today on the way home I went to the Bellarine Quilters sewing day...here is a scrap quilt Linda has made...she does some amazing work...

and another...she had 3 blocks left over from another quilt, so made some extra and has another beautiful quilt...

.....rough weather on the way home...

I decided to cut lots of 5cm circles..in fabric and wadding...

and I made one of these.......nineteen more to go...sigh!! I am hoping they will turn into a Christmas decoration I spied over at this blog.....we will see!!
Some stitching has also been happening
...last night the wonderful Tracee had forgotten to bring something to do...she had come straight from work and is busy, busy...so she did some stitching for me..yay!! I love it when that happens as it has special meaning for me then! Thank you Tracee!!
Phew if you made it here reading thank you!!! This has been a bit of a long one!!
Happy sewing.

Here and there...

It has been one of those weeks so far, doing a bit of this and that!
Last Sunday Shane and I went to investigate the Flying Cider Brick Company...the name sounded interesting...I didn't know that here on the Bellarine Penninsular the Yellow tailed Black cockatoos are known as flying bricks!!! Who would have thought!!!
We had a lot of these at Gisborne, they loved the hakea trees and the seed pods in them....
anyway I digress!!!
We tested the pear cider....sat and chatted for a while...then had to move on as the rain came....has a lovely restaurant inside too by the way....and outdoor fireplace....

love the logo!!
Yesterday Shane & I went geocaching..so he would understand what I am doing when I tell him...we went to Leopold and found the right location but no cache.....mmmm....

I am sure he is thinking "Does she really know what she is doing?" Lol!! We did finally find one...thank goodness...there has to be some reward for walking around in circles and up and down hills in the rain!!!
I have been doing some knitting but no sewing, the machine is packed away until the renovations are finished, maybe in three weeks....not holding my breath!!
Off to visit the Gisborne girls tonight, so I am looking forward to that and then tomorrow it is sewing day with the Bellarine Quilters!!! Lovely couple of days!!!
I am doing my best!! Lol!!
Happy sewing.
