I made the binding and attached it to the Aussie hero quilt, now I need to do the hand sewing and finish in the cotton endy bits
I got part way through this block and as I was ironing realised it was completely wrong, I had created a fish not a star!!
this is what I was supposed to be making!!
this is the block after lots of unsewing and re sewing!! These blocks are going into a dignity quilt some of the Guild members are making for a local care home. They are supposed to come out at twelve and a half inches, I have made two and they are both different sizes, not a lot different but not the same.
I also did a few leaves on the applique wall hanging, will slowly get back into it.
Heading back to bed now for a cuppa and a read before it gets to hot again.
Thank you for being the hostess with the mostest Cheryll.
You can catch up with the other FNWF'ers over at Cheryll's blog.
Happy sewing.
HaHa Glad Iam not the only one who does that sort of thing
ReplyDeleteGood morning Sue,wow your blocks turned out lovely,it was hot here last night too,had the air con on till we went to bed, lol.
ReplyDeleteHot here as well and staying for a few days! Lucky you picked it up when you were ironing - finished result looks great!
ReplyDeleteThe hot weather muddles the brain a little. But you got onto the right track again.
ReplyDeleteA few mores leaves done on the appliqué, that's good progress.
Well done with your progress when it was so hot. Here in Dunedin,NZ it has been a strange summer and last night was perfect sewing weather. Good that you picked up your mistake before you went too far.
ReplyDeleteCute fish block ;-) but happy you were able to correct it into a star. These blocks are beautyful! Happy binding-stitching!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I like the "fishy' block even though it was not intended. These things happen. Keep cool.
ReplyDeleteWell at least you know how to do a fish block should the occassion arise lol! It is going to be a lovely quilt. I find sewing the binding down very relaxing x
ReplyDeleteUnsewing blocks is a familiar thing here. I under stand about the hot. Here in Gisborne I think we are one of the only places in NZ getting a real summer this year
ReplyDeleteI think you've been channeling me! I did an awful lot of that sort of thing around Christmas. It's a gorgeous block.
