Today is another photo heavy day!!

I had a big walk up Edwards Point to try and find a geocache that I have not been able to find, it was a 7.2 km round trip from home..needless to say I was tired but happy when I got back!!
I didn't check the weather before I left and there are some black clouds on the horizon now!!

walked along the track here...I have been told to watch out for snakes here but none today were spotted! Phew!!

part of the Swan Bay inlet

casually studying the view while counting down the seconds for the camera to go off!!!
I walked 293 m past this lookout to try and find the cache, after 20 mins I sent a message to the cache owner, I got a message back to ring him, which I did and he talked me to where the cache was...it took me another 5 mins of searching before I found the thing!!! All the time having the man on the phone telling me to watch out for snakes!!!! I thought if one did bite me at least I was talking to him and he could get me help!!!!

I eventually found it under the left side of this tree...I had been searching about 6 m to the left as that was where the gps had me!! Ah well! Another adventure!!

I set off towards home just as it started spitting

the weather can't have been travelling very fast as it stopped fairly quickly, I was not fast enough to out run it!!

I saw a few of these on the way, I had heard they were in the bay in their thousands for their annual moult.

On the last stretch I was confronted with this...groan, but I managed to get to the top!!

I had a good haul of beach glass on my travels.

I did get to some sewing in the afternoon and managed to burn the label I was preparing for a quilt!! The Supervisor was not supervising ... or taking responsibility!!

See innocent!!!
The Aussie hero quilt is trimmed and the binding is on...hand sewing is the next thing to be done.
I am off now to soak my weary bones in the bath, with a Budweiser and a book.
Happy sewing.

Quilting we go

This morning the Supervisor and I went for a walk along the beach

nice morning here but I think it might be raining over at Ondrea's place on the other side of the bay.

The Supervisor was keen to check who had walked before him, which made for a slow walk!!

a little Willy Wag Tail followed us for a way...these birds are so hard to get a photo of as they move really quickly.

There are some amazing clouds over the bay today, we got a few drops of rain during our walk but not much.

We came back through the new bush track near the Bluff.
I got stuck into quilting this afternoon and was feeling good, all was smooth,

and then this happened!!! Great, some unsewing had to happen!!

By dinner time I was this far, I need to do some more quilting on the top of the quilt I think, then it will be done.
Had better go and check hubby's dinner.

Happy sewing.

Walkabout

Today I took the Supervisor for a morning walk , then came home and got ready for sit and sew here at St Leonards...then decided to walk down to the shopping centre, which is about 2km.
It was a beautiful morning for a walk

the pelicans arrived as I was walking past

in large numbers!! One of the fishermen said they tried not to feed them as they became lazy and didn't fish for themselves...he also said he had seen a pelican take a Chihuahua dog one day and also a bit pelican snatched a fish from a child and cut the child's arm with the point on the end of its beak ...not so sure I like them as much now!!!
Down at the Community space Lynda was showing her beautiful quilt for her grand daughter in Ireland, it has lots of family photos on it.

Mary was busy working on a quilt for a friends 60th birthday which is coming up soon.

Still was a beautiful day on the way home, there was even a couple of ladies venturing in for a swim!!

I spied a dinosaur near the camping ground!!!

checked out the view from near us before heading home.

This afternoon I made a few more bookmarks for the Guild

and put together the backing for the Dignity quilt. Loos like we might get a change of weather soon, the sky is gray and it is very windy. There is corned beef ready in the crock pot so I had better go and do some veges!!
Happy sewing.

Circles are a go

The circles are all sewn on!! Yay!! We have been out and about today in to Geelong and back, I planted some vege seeds in the garden and some cuttings from an orchid I was given months ago....they have been languishing in a glass on the kitchen bench!!
Quilt top ready for sandwiching...

It was a bit late in the day but I got it done  out on the front table before dark

Hee hee only just!! I also found I hadn't made the backing long enough so I will have to fix that tomorrow.

I have been working on the backing for the Dignity Quilt, piecing the blocks that didn't go in the front

Have to add a couple of bits to the ends and then it will be done, the it needs to be added to the large brown section and more pieces added to each side of that.....phew a bit to do!!!
No rest for the wicked obviously!!
See you later.

Circles, circles and more circles!!!

Today after doing the grocery shopping, I headed off to Portarlington to go for a swim, in keeping with turning over my new get some exercise programme!!! Sadly the pool was closed and full of school children learning to swim!!  Not to worry I headed home and got stuck into the circles
I have 14 left to go, hopefully I can do them after dinner,  also today I made some bookmarks

The Geelong Guild is having a quilt in day in May and want gifts for all who attend, so I thought bookmarks would be a good idea,  and I had some tape measure fabric left from another project, hopefully they will be useful.
Our dinner of curried mince and veges is ready so I had better go serve up.
Happy sewing.

Fiddly fiddle

I have spent most of the day making small brown circles, they sure are little fiddly things!! But they are done and pinned to the quilt top now, ready to be hand seen on....my job to do while Married at First Sight is on tonight...I quite enjoyed this programme when it started but now I spend most of my time shouting at the TV...maybe it is time to return to the ABC???
ready to be sewn..
I have been inspired by Chooky to get out and get walking,so today the Supervisor and I went down to the beach

this brave man was going in for a swim

a ship was heading down the bay for the open sea

the Supervisor needed a cooling paddle...no rushed walk here today!!!!

the pelicans had found some men cleaning their catch and were enjoying some left overs!!

we went over the road and walked around the lagoon

we found a cache at the far end of the lagoon, then carried on

guess who had another swim when we got back to the bay, we walked 3.5km and the Supervisor sat down on the way back and wasn't going to walk any further, our previous dog used to do this too!! But a puppy came along and we were on our way again.
Hubby came back this afternoon from spending the weekend with friends

with this beautiful bunch of lily's , their perfume is gorgeous!!
Fish and chips are here now so I am off!!
Happy sewing.
