Back again

The past few days have flown by. Lots of different things have been happening, the sadest, which you probably know is that the Supervisor aka Chowdy, Tupai, Snippo, Bear,Teddy (everyone had a different name for him), passed over the rainbow bridge.
A big hole has been left in our hearts.
I spent three days at Eve's house sorting her clothes, that job is all done now.
Back home David has gone to Adelaide for the weekend to enjoy some warming . Friday evening Marg and Tracee came here and we had a great catch up, lots of chatting,  laughing, sewing and some alcohol may have been had 🙄.

Marg  busy sewing squares together

The ladies in the kitchen, some ironing and some refreshment!

Tracee was working on the quilt front while Marg was working on the back. We were making an African themed quilt with fabric from Donna's stash . The quilt will go to her sister, Rebecca, in Germany.

As everything was under control I  made a table runner with some of Donnas fabric. I can't get blogger to turn the photos around the right way, so I am sorry they are sideways!

Here is the finished quilt top.

This morning after going for a walk to the pier and back the girls helped me cut the remaining jelly roll into six and a half inch pieces, plus some orange that was left over!

We made up the blocks before lunch, then the girls had to leave to go home 😪

After having a few days of 30 plus degrees it is cooler and raining on and off, slippers are back out of the wardrobe .
Right I am off to see some blocks together before relaxing on the couch!
Happy stitching.

Gardening Day

Today I spent a good few hours in the garden, removing some very happy weeds! It was wonderful to spend some time in the sunshine, we had a sunshiny day yesterday but it was Guild day so I was inside all day.
Here is a little of Lisa's show and tell, the red quilt on the right is going to the St John of God hospital.

This amazing quilt was made for a newly redecorated bedroom .

This quilt made by Anna on the left, was made all by hand and from op shop shirts, aprons and blouses. Stunning.

Margaret was busy stitching

Tracee was making a very cute dragon.  Can't wait to see that finished.

Not a good photo, but the first daffodil in the garden!

Buddha is happily surrounded by purple flowers

Errol the Emu suffered a serious leg injury when a huge branch dropped off the gum tree,  both legs amputated sadly. He now sits on a tree stump, higher than before and keeps an eye on the garden.

This daisy has burst into flower

the grevillia has beautiful flowers, the bees love this one.

the back yard is looking good, even though it is winter still.

I think this is a bottle brush flower

and this is my helper (NOT) he wants back scratches and wants to sit where I am weeding. But he gets away with it because he is so cute!!

Love the late sun in the afternoon this time of the year, we get to play shadows.

This raven was cleaning its beak up in the next doors gum tree late this afternoon

and this cactus if flowering very happily. I think the possums keep knocking/eating bits off it as I find bits of leaf on the deck...they get put into water until the grow little roots and then back into a pot to make a new plant.
I have been doing some sewing. some secret for now and some preparing EPP.
But now I am off to soak in the bath with a G &T and a book!!
Have a wonderful week.

Sunday sewing

Today I have managed to tick four of five things off my to do list!
One was to sew two blocks for the mystery quilt from the Today's Quilter magazine. These blocks are the fillers that go between the monthly blocks.
So because I had the fabric cut and could do,  I made three!! Go me!! They need a border added, that will happen next time.

I also finished sewing the two and a half inch squares together, I started this a while back and happily sewed away, compared it to the other two I have finished and I have made this one a different size! Oh well, I will have to be creative with the border.

I know the photo looks the same, but the binding is now done and the bed runner has gone to it's new home, it is actually on the back of a couch, with one very happy owner.

The Supervisor has been on the job today in the door of the hall from the sewing room so he can keep an eye on me moving around and get the cool breeze coming in the back door.

Last week #1 son and partner and Hank came for dinner, we had a walk after dinner along the beach. Poor Hank can not have been out of his yard much in his previous home, he is frightened of stairs and refuses to come up or go down, he is frightened of changes in floor coverings so will not go from one room to another ( we had to carry him up and inside).  He was also frightened of the rocks in the water, poor boy needs lots of outings to learn about life.
I am off for a G & T , soak in the bath and a good read.
Happy stitching.

Yesterday

afternoon saw me working on another quilt top for the oncology ward at the local hospital. I have based this on the 5 fat quarter pattern but included more pieces
One more row to finish and add on.

The knitted blanket grows slowly each evening

quality checked by you know who!!
Off to sew that last row together.
Happy sewing.

Out and about

This afternoon I was taking some  quilt tops to the quilters and hubby decided to come along for the ride, so I decided we would go look for a couple of geocaches while we were out!!
The Supervisor had to stay at home, he was not happy!

The 5 fat quarter top is done and ready to be quilted

with a bright orange backing!

We found one cache at the end of the road here..some creep had dumped their rubbish nearby!! I don't understand why people feel the need to do that! But it was a beautiful view and calm today, no wind!

I have finished two balls of wool on the KOGO blanket, now I have picked up the stitches on the side and am working out that way.

still working on the next border for the Doing the Rounds quilt, must get back to that now.
Happy stitching.

Thursday

The Supervisor and I had a walk along the beach this morning, we didn't go as far as usual as the Supervisor was sick and not very enthusiastic!  He seems to be much better now.

I had a play with some little rocks on the beach

it is not easy getting rocks to balance, takes time and patience! I can't remember what this is called but Donna will remind me I am sure, we saw lots in Canada and Alaska. I wonder if they will be there tomorrow??

This afternoon I went into the Geelong Cemetery to do some geocaching, I have a map and need to find head stones to get information, but keep getting lost!! My map skills obviously  need lots of work! I was driven home by the weather eventually, those clouds dropped some rain.

I am now sewing the next row onto the Doing the Rounds Quilt, I sewed a section on yesterday and had it in the wrong place so some unsewing had to happen, I am trying to catch up where I was. Joys!!

Another weekend zips by

My goodness the days are zipping by so quickly! I am still doing secret sewing here, so can't show much but
I did manage to iron the pin head under the applique! Oh dear, luckily I could pull the fabric up, get the pin out and start again!!
we have had some dull mornings

some misty mornings

The Supervisor ventured in for a swim one morning

the oyster catchers gathered by the waters edge

this beautiful heron was puddling along with one foot and catching what ever came out of the sand, not sure how it ate a live crab, but it did.

the old cypress trees in the mist.

two packages arrived from Sandy for Doing the Rounds (Yep I am behind now!!)

lots of beautiful fabric there.

Yesterday afternoon was beautiful so we took a break from sewing and enjoyed the fresh air for a while

the Supervisor is never far away

the knitting is coming along well, I am on the second ball of the Lincraft cake, loving how the colours look in the sunshine.
It is sewing day at the Bellarine Quilters today so I am off to get ready.
Have a wonderful day.
