Catching up once again

Life has been busy the last couple of weeks, I have not made it to the computer to do a blog post, but today is the day!
Last week we had Ann staying, we went for a tiki tour down to the Otways and returned along the Great Ocean Road. But first we went to Queenscliff to show Ann the 360 tower
View from the top of the tower, the ferry in the photo is the one that goes over to Sorrento.

and the look out to the ocean, sadly no big ships were coming or going at the time.

The next day we stopped for a cuppa on the way and had a look at the war memorial, the gardens were beautiful, red roses and rosemary.

Then we drove, in a round about way, because of road works, to the Otway Fly, where you can walk up in the tree tops in the rain forest.

Here we are on a cantilevered section of the walk way, and yes I hung on all the time!! It was 30 metres about the ground.

On the way back to the car we saw this beautiful bird.

Another fortifying cuppa and back on the road.

Our next stop was on the Great Ocean Road and the 12 Apostles. The rock formations break away from the cliffs, some have collapsed with the wear and tear of the sea, now there are about 8 and a half left. But we were told more will form as bits leave the main cliff.

We ended out day in Port Campbell, I was waiting for the sun to set but after 20 mins of waiting realised I would be there a while so went back to the motel.

The sun shining on part of the township.
Before we went away I did finish the Aussie Hero quilt and got it in the post.
More soon.
Happy stitching.

  3. What a lovely trip. We’ve done the Great Ocean Road some years ago, but have not made it down to the Otways as yet. I’m sure Ann would have enjoyed it all. You did well to get the quilt done and dusted. It came up well.

  4. I just love that area and that rugged coastline... just stunning. I was working with the Otway council when the Fly was built … it is a wonderful structure even if I (and you) have left permanent nail marks on the rails!! haha...

  5. Sue - a lovely tour. How fascinating that the number of Apostles changes over time with the ongoing ocean movement! Thanks again for volunteering to host Flat Stanley - I know he will enjoy his visit with you!
