There and back again (photo heavy)

 On Monday hubby and I headed off towards the Great Ocean Road area, we had accommodation at Port Campbell for three nights. We have booked this place three times, the previous times we had to cancel because of the virus situation, this time all went well.

On the way there we did some geocaching, well I did some geocaching to be correct and hubby sat in the car until we found one I couldn't reach and then he had to get out and help! I was very happy, him not so much. We arrived around 2.30ish, unpacked and hubby declared it was time for an amble, so off we went. Little did I know what I was in for.

We went down to the jetty first and watched the waves coming in

it was a little windy 

we followed the path to the coastal walk, you can see I get left behind as I stop to take photos and to look at things!

Then we found the stairs! I didn't count going up as I was trying to breathe, there were more stairs and lots of up an down, on the way back I counted the stairs and we walked 494 steps!! No wonder I slept well that night.

Looking back towards the 12 Apostles site, well i think there are only 7 or 8 now as they have been eroded by the sea and the weather, but new ones will come as bits of land break away from the cliffs.

Tuesday morning I followed the track up behind where we were staying to the war memorial

I went down the the wharf to watch the sunset but there were to many clouds and the sun set in the wrong place for it to show over the water.

Wednesday morning was cool and overcast, I went for a walk to the local cemetery to try and find a cache, no joy there, but the afternoon had some lovely sunny times

so I went and sat on a bench and did some crochet, hubby was nearby doing a pastel painting, much to the entertainment of the people walking past.

Some people were even swimming. By the noises they made getting in the water was cold!

I took out my beautiful new spoons from the coastal market place, Mel is on instagram and repurposes the most lovely things.

Well this is out of order but a block was done this morning for the Schoolgirl Sampler

over the time away I did the yellow and brown hexies ready for the next row on the Mystery Hexie quilt

a couple more hexies have been sewn in place

Well this one is way out of order, we are back to the sunset! But it takes ages to find the photos on the phone so it is staying!

Catching up once again

Life has been busy the last couple of weeks, I have not made it to the computer to do a blog post, but today is the day!
Last week we had Ann staying, we went for a tiki tour down to the Otways and returned along the Great Ocean Road. But first we went to Queenscliff to show Ann the 360 tower

and the look out to the ocean, sadly no big ships were coming or going at the time.

The next day we stopped for a cuppa on the way and had a look at the war memorial, the gardens were beautiful, red roses and rosemary.

Then we drove, in a round about way, because of road works, to the Otway Fly, where you can walk up in the tree tops in the rain forest.

Here we are on a cantilevered section of the walk way, and yes I hung on all the time!! It was 30 metres about the ground.

On the way back to the car we saw this beautiful bird.

Our next stop was on the Great Ocean Road and the 12 Apostles. The rock formations break away from the cliffs, some have collapsed with the wear and tear of the sea, now there are about 8 and a half left. But we were told more will form as bits leave the main cliff.

We ended out day in Port Campbell, I was waiting for the sun to set but after 20 mins of waiting realised I would be there a while so went back to the motel.
