FNWF and the weekend

I was  very productive on Friday evening, joined up two panels and made star blocks to go along side them, late Friday I was unsewing as I had put the centre strip crooked, so Saturday was resewing day!!
Assembled correctly

One of the star blocks

another of the star blocks

Yesterday I cut and sewed another 8 Advent challenge blocks.
This morning is the Aussie Santa toy run for the Children's Hospital,

I have spent a very happy half hour on the front deck watching the bikes go by

bikes of all sizes and shapes, quiet ones, loud ones, serious grunters and then a Vespa or two, I have really enjoyed seeing them.

Love how some of the bikes (and riders) are decorated

Last year there were over 1000 bikes, sounds like there will be much the same this year.
Today I hope to sew the star strips on the sides, then small stars need to be appliqued onto the brown strips.
I had better go and hang out the washing.
Happy stitching.

  1. The horsey quilt is lovely Sue :-) A shame about the unsewing though :-( Sounds like you are back on track again now. I spent time watching bikes too - ours was a primary school fundraiser. Very fun!

  2. Beautiful quilting, sorry you had to re-sew a part, but that happens. The bike ride must have been fun to watch, and a great idea. Hugs, Valerie

  3. Very productive although a shame about the unstitching. We ocassionally get loads of bikes driving past here but I think it is just a bikers day out! xx

  5. The quilt looks wonderful Sue, albeit the pesky ripping and resewing. How great are the bikes...no need to grab a spot amongst the crowd...your VIP seat is your balcony 😂

  6. The quilt is coming along nicely. It’s worth fixing things if they are not looking right. There was a nice selection of bikes on the toy run. Of course, I love the sidecar best. Not that I’m biased or anything.

  11. I am not feeling productive at the moment - the season has got the better of me, I am afraid. So I am glad to see someone else moving on with their plans. Wonderful work!

  13. I do like that horse quilt. I believe some of that fabric is in a friend's quilt here, making for her husband. If not the same, much like it! Great idea to put the focus fabric in the block centers. I do like the idea of that bike run, and the Santa riding was so cute. What a nice bunch of people to do that. And more Advent blocks!
