We have friends staying this week, Ingrid and Nick, Ingrid has her machine along so yes, you guess it, we are sewing.
We had a cool change last Monday, lots of thunder a little lightning,
and this was all the rain that the clouds dropped for us!
I have been working on another quilt top, managed to get the blocks made the right way this time!
Young Jasper has been keeping an eye on the proceedings.
Yesterday morning I basted the quilt out on the front deck
I grid was busy sewing two and a half inch squares together for a Pat Sloan challenge for January. The quilt is called Traffic Stop.
I was busy quilting
Ingrid finished all her 316 squares!
The quilt was finished last night and was delivered to the hospital today.
Afterwards we did a little retail therapy!! Yay!!
I have made two blocks for the Traffic Jam quilt, this one today
this one finished last night after watching the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Great to see and hear the bagpipes and bands and to see the NZ Army Band, my most favourite band.
They always make me laugh.
I had better be off and be social again and sort some dinner.
Happy stitching.
Sounds like your new year got off to a great start, and you and your friend have been busy. I can't even imagine sewing so many squares together, let alone producing something so beautiful. And retail therapy is always the best! Wish I could send you some of the rain we've been having! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWhat a very productive new year.
ReplyDeleteGood start.. and having a finish already is great. How much fun is it having a sewing date...
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely start to 2020 Sue. I'm looking forward to seeing all your lovely stitching here on the blog this year.
ReplyDeletelovely start to the new year.... I like the neutral you are using in the corners for your traffic stop....
ReplyDeleteHugz
What a great start to the new year. Enjoy your time stitching with Ingrid.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to be able to come & stay with you Sue - & bring your sewing machine! Sounds like heaven to me! Yes we got about the same amount of rain drops as you did. Happy Quilting with Ingrid & Happy New Year Sue xx
ReplyDeleteYou've made a great start to 2020 having a finish already..
ReplyDeletealso good progress on the next quilt and challenge. Always lovely to sew along with a friend.
I think the quilt came out fine, and the pink version really is quite different - eye opening pink! It looks like you and Ingrid are having a great quilt together. I was disappointed for you when I saw the sprinkles your gray brought in. I'd gladly share all of our next two days of rain - We're already soaked several inches down from today's unrelenting rain! On top of the previous rains, and more coming. It should come downunder where it's really needed! =(
ReplyDeleteLovely to have a friend to sew with. Great finish for the hospital....the pink one is so lovely. Enjoy your visitors. Happy New Year Sue xx
ReplyDeleteI didn't think I would ever say that Traffic Jam makes me happy :-p but I see so many possibilities. It looks like a great scrap buster. I am sure that your red/white/pink quilt will be done in time for Valentine's Day. And Jasper is the most adorable and handsome dog ever!!!
ReplyDeleteYou always make life sound like so much fun! That's my favorite thing about you! I tried to make that quilt you were working on, smaller blocks, but I kept getting them wrong, so I eventually gave up. It looked so simple! Hmmmph! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteNice pictures, and that sure isn't much rain~ I quilted for many years, and enjoyed seeing your projects~
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how behind I am in visiting you, Sue! My Bad. You are so busy with your charity quilts - love the blue one, in spite of the wrongly-turned blocks, and the red one is going to be extra scrummy too. Nice that Ingrid and you enjoyed some good sewing time. The Traffic Jam blocks are pretty cool but NO I don't need another project :-)
