Today it is currently 13 deg C, sunny no wind, thank goodness but cold, we are only expecting a high of 15 deg C today, the reason for my interest in the temperature is that at 11.30 our power goes off and does not come on again until 3.30 this afternoon. The power company need to do some urgent works apparently. So the machine sewing I had thought about doing today will not get done, maybe some hand sewing will happen instead, or some geocaching if I can persuade hubby to come with me!!
Some sewing has been happening along with tidying, yep that scary word! Amazing what you find when you have a bit of a tidy!!😄
we have had some beautiful sunsets in the last week the camera really does not do it justice
the zippy bag is finished, it took me ages to get the zip on, one side goes really well and then it takes me ages to get my head around how to position the fabrics for the opposite side!
Two Anthology blocks for this week, the one on the left had much unsewing and eventually I remade the top and bottom sections and it looked much better and was the correct size.
two more stars are made for Betty's Medallion
and four stars are made for the Guild Mystery Quilt
Ingrid sent me this beautiful book as we had both admired the quilt on the cover
this is the centre block, I am using one and a quarter inch hexies, so it will grow quite quickly. (Not that I need another project of course!!)
I had better be off and do what I need to do before the power goes off
Have a wonderful weekend and happy stitching.
Sue - I think I would have been looking for an excuse to linger under a quilt for a few hours if I knew the power was going off with such cold temps!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you get your electricity back quickly! Lovely sewing. Zips are always a problem, that's true! Have a good and safe weekend, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteWell done on persevering with those tricky sewing bits. Hope you were able to stay somewhere warm during the power outage. Mind you 15 degrees would be balmy compared to our last few days. Lots of snow in the district. I love your central block of your new quilt. Beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you persevered with those tricky sewing bits and hope you found somewhere warm during the power outage. Mind you, 15 degrees would be balmy compared to us this last few days. Snow all around the district. I love the central block if your new quilt. Great colours.
ReplyDeleteSo true, photos of sunset really do not show their true beauty.
ReplyDeleteSo you have started a new project. Did you appliqué the hexies to the centre fabric for the start of this project
I love the colours in your anthology blocks - a great variety of projects - of course you needed one more!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL
Hope the power went on as scheduled
It's warner there than here - we have been down to single digits - a bit unusual for BNE.
Hope your power wasn’t off for too long !
ReplyDeleteMore great blocks and I also think zips are tricky…
I really do like that bag. Congrats on the zip
ReplyDeleteLove the zip bag.....looks a good size. You are working on some pretty projects. Hope the power was not off for long.....glad I did not live as a pioneer woman.
ReplyDeleteAnother great post Sue - Loving that zippy bag - love the fabrics you have used. Gosh that book Ingrid has sent you ... my goodness that quilt on the cover is divine!!!
ReplyDeleteNice finish on the zippy bag and your new project looks gorgeous! Have fun with it. xx
ReplyDeletebusy busy lots of projects on the go.......
ReplyDeletehope you stayed warm while the power was off......
you have lovely projects you are working on.. the zippy bag is lovely and I can see where you did a bit of stitching.... just adds that little something to it.... Another new project??? doesn't sound like a crafter... haha
ReplyDeleteHugz
I gave up sewing zips after my one and only attempt lol. You did well. Love your EPP projects and the other blocks. The book looks really interesting. At least we are not without power for several days like many other Victorians. Hand stitching is always good to have.
ReplyDeleteHaving the power go out sounds a bit inconvenient. I need a lesson on how to put in zippers. They never look nice when I try to do it.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly keep yourself busy Sue... so good luck working on the various projects...xox
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunsets! I imagine you are very chilly in your part of the world...bummer with no power. All your blocks are lovely Sue. I really love the medallion hexie blocks....love how you can highlight special fabrics. Stay warm xx
ReplyDeleteStill trying to catch up on blog reading and see you have lots of things on the go. Lovely sunset, and they are hard to photograph aren't they? Your Guild mystery quilt looks interesting, mysteryies are always a challenge aren't they?
