FNWF

 Last night was Friday Night with Friends, I managed to trim and bind this quilt Tracee kindly quilted  for me

this is a sort of left overs quilt, the strips were supposed to be cut up and made into little blocks, but I decided to go for the joining and used left over backing fabric for the centre and borders.

I really like the quilting pattern Tracee used.

I sewed the outer edge pieces to the star, all four are now completed and are ready to be appliqued to squares for Betty's Medallion. I sewed a few more hexies together on Tea and Cake as well, but no point in another photo as it looks much like it did yesterday 😀!

Friday

 Today it is currently 13 deg C, sunny no wind, thank goodness but cold, we are only expecting a high of 15 deg C today, the reason for my interest in the temperature is that at 11.30 our power goes off and does not come on again until 3.30 this afternoon. The power company need to do some urgent works apparently. So the machine sewing I had thought about doing today will not get done, maybe some hand sewing will happen instead, or some geocaching if I can persuade hubby to come with me!! 

Some sewing has been happening along with tidying, yep that scary word! Amazing what you find when you have a bit of a tidy!!😄

the zippy bag is finished, it took me ages to get the zip on, one side goes really well and then it takes me ages to get my head around how to position the fabrics for the opposite side!

Two Anthology blocks for this week, the one on the left had much unsewing and eventually I remade the top and bottom sections and it looked much better and was the correct size.

Ingrid sent me this beautiful book as we had both admired the quilt on the cover

this is the centre block, I am using one and a quarter inch hexies, so it will grow quite quickly. (Not that I need another project of course!!)

Retreat Day 2

 There was lots of sewing and unsewing today, I finally finished the first border for Betty's Medallion only to find it is too big. All the ladies here have had a look and a solution has been suggested so will get to that back at home.

After all the cutting I did and sewing, I realised I cut the flying geese units the wrong way, so have ended up with square in square blocks. I am not going to waste the fabric.

Last night's dinner was baked potatoes, coleslaw and onion and bacon cooked with capsicum, which was yummy 

Followed by pavlova with berries, so yum!!!

Today I have been working on the borders of the Old Time Medallion, more on that tomorrow.

FNWF

 Here I am rather late in the day, but tonight is FNWF where we get to sew along with like minded friends courtesy of Cheryll 

The blue pixilated heart is finished, I might do some free motion hearts in the white squares.

I have prepared some epp diamonds to add to the stars

Reading Fiona's blog this morning I realised I hadn't written about my gift here, I too received happy mail, a mini made by Ingrid, the block I chose was Paths to Friendship, appropriate for us all sewing along together on this quilt.

 

I have been cutting for the next blocks on Betty's Medallion, 40 four and a half inch squares and 40 Sawtooth Stars, that should keep me busy for a while.

I was a day late with the Anthology blocks, 

but made two this week.

I am off to sort our what I am doing tonight for FNWF, I have some more cutting to do so will start with that.

Day two and a party

Yesterday was a busy day sewing, I finished my log cabins and with some help from Janice got them the right way around and finished getting them into the quilt top only to have it pointed out by Kate, one block was the wrong way around

Jenny ,  Bird on the Border helped me out with fabric yesterday, I was two short in pieces for the log cabin blocks. Wonderful woman!!

Packing in anticipation

 I have spent the last few days cutting and preparing for a sewing retreat at Baradine with the Scrub Stitchin' girls. Sadly Raewyn can't get over here this year, I was going with hubby but he has returned from a weekend wargaming in Adelaide with what we think is a chest infection, so I am venturing of on my own. 

I decided to join some of the Sylvia's blocks together, as I have 64 made and think that is enough for a quilt top now, first row done.

Two more Anthology blocks are done

Hank came to stay Friday and Saturday, we enjoyed walks on the beach and playing ball in the back yard.

Lots of cutting happened for Betty's Medallion, the next row are Log Cabin blocks made with foundation paper piecing.

Bag packed, four projects in there, wonder if I have enough to do???

Might pack some hand sewing too, you can never have enough, just in case.

Life is getting busy again

 The days are going by so quickly, seems to be my constant comment!

Progress has been made on the Old Time Kaleidoscope, all the EPP is done, now I need to cut borders and applique the whole EPP section on.

I am stitching on the last blue hexie piece and need to make more hexies for the next row.

A collection of School Girl sampler blocks finished last week

Betty's Medallion has two more borders, I am finding the instructions for this quilt a bit confusing, hence Jack the Ripper has made several visits!

This is the centre block for a Mystery quilt for the Geelong Guild, we had to buy fabrics first and then start our first month, this is going to be interesting and a challenge!

Anthology blocks for last week

Sylvia's Bridal Sampler block, I seem to have some kind of block when it comes to sewing half square triangles, so Jack visited several time during the making of this block too!

Ingrid came to visit on the weekend, we had a great time chatting and catching up and in between sewed up Schoolgirl Sampler blocks

This was another challenge, the half square triangles got me again, Ingrid took this one off me on Saturday evening and we revisited Sunday morning after some unpicking.

I thought I had a handle on Flying Geese but this block gave me a challenge too, I am happy it is done!

It is Anthology day again today, but first I have to go clean the house, I was dusting and then thought I would do a blog post as you do!
