A bit of this and a bit of that

I was going to write catching up again as it seems to be how most of my blog posts are these days. Not a lot of sewing has been happening here, I have been reading, doing a bit of gardening but do not have much energy as I am anaemic again, but I am heading in to Geelong tomorrow for an iron infusion and next week is the scheduled B12 injection, so all will be well.

Some photos I have taken

Anthology blocks from the last two weeks
Some hexie progress

A little progress on the mystery hexie quilt, I am not finished and a new tempting one has been put out by Jemimas Creative Quilting,

Progress on Tea and Cake, not the best photo! I need to take another photo as more progress has happened since this one.
I was given this book years ago and decided to try and make something from it. We have a postcard challenge at the Guild so I am attempting a postcard combining fabric and paper
this is the start, I need to get back to it! The teacups are from a serviette.
Signs of spring on the way in the garden.
Saturday I joined into a zoom session organised by Chooky, there were ladies from Australia, NZ, Canada, USA and Germany. I had a great time chatting, stitching and listening. It is wonderful to catch up with people we can't otherwise see during these lockdown times.
I sewed many hexagons together and lots onto the main tea and cake quilt top, many many more to go though.

I took the epp stars out of their tin recently and decided to give them a good starch and iron and then applique them onto squares, that plan has partly come to fruition, I have a pile to sew and a pile to take papers out of.

This was the moon we saw out over the Bay on Sunday evening, such a beauty.
I had better get off and do something, read a book, remove some epp papers, plenty to be doing here.
Happy stitching.

FNWF

Last night was Friday Night with Friends, I managed to trim and bind this quilt Tracee kindly quilted  for me

this is a sort of left overs quilt, the strips were supposed to be cut up and made into little blocks, but I decided to go for the joining and used left over backing fabric for the centre and borders.

I really like the quilting pattern Tracee used.

I sewed the outer edge pieces to the star, all four are now completed and are ready to be appliqued to squares for Betty's Medallion. I sewed a few more hexies together on Tea and Cake as well, but no point in another photo as it looks much like it did yesterday 😀!
Over at Cheryll's blog you can see what the other Friday Nighter's got up to.
Happy stitching.

Once again catching up

The last couple of weeks has seen me with my nose in a book, I read Spring Cottage by Mary Ellen Taylor and then found there were 2 other books in the series, Winter Cottage and Honeysuckle Season, so decided to read then too.

Some sewing has been happening, Anthology blocks

Last weeks and
This weeks.
Flying geese left over from the quilt were joined together

into two pieces and quilted.

After some worrying SLOW mail delivery these beautiful machine embroideries arrived from Tracee of Hummingbird Quilting. This is the start of an Aussie hero quilt.
I made some flying geese to go with them

and did some baking, slightly over cooked on the edges, but it tastes good, biscuit base with nuts and condensed milk on the top.
This week I had to get moving as I had a mailing deadline to meet, this is the start of the Aussie Hero quilt, requested by a submariner. He wanted old school naval tattoos.
Luckily we had a fine morning in the week and I could sandwich outside.
The  squirrel popped up in the week and I made a zippy bag from the quilted flying geese pieces quilted last week

blogger decided this photo needed to be turned around

and inside.

the Aussie Hero quilt is finished, and this morning it went into the post, one day before the due date. Phew!!!
Just love Tracee's machine embroideries.
Slow stitching is happening on Tea and Cake, I have lots of hexies to join together here.

And in between times more hexies are being made for the Mystery hexie quilt.
Tonight is Friday Night with Friends
a lovely evening of a virtual sewing with friends.
You can sign up here.
I am off to sort out what I will do this evening.
Happy stitching.
