Last Saturday

 I was up bright and early (for me) and joined in with Chooky's zoom party, the girls had been sewing and chatting for a couple of hours by the time I got there.

It was lovely to sit and sew and catch up with people I haven't seen for a few years as well as the regular zoomers.

People came and went through the day depending on what else was happening.

I managed to attach the last three green and orange hexie flowers and then started on the dark purple fillers. By about 2pm my fingers were sore so I said goodbye to the ladies and went to have a cuppa and a read.

The Minions quilt is finally finished, I have been dithering over this all week!

Here is todays Anthology block

Friday 1st October is World postcard day, so I thought I would have a little play with fabric and stitches on the machine and create a postcard to send on the day. Just needs to have its edging finished off.

And a few hexie flowers for tea and cake, which I keep calling tea and toast!

Right I have seen a new quilt idea and I am keen to have a go at it before dinner has to happen.

Hey ho

 In Melbourne and Victoria I am sure it is well known that we can have all seasons of weather in one day.

We had some spring weather that changed back to winter on the weekend and this morning we had an earthquake, I was standing near the couch when the door to the loo started creaking, then the rocking chair started rocking and the house swaying, it was a bit scary! I have felt earthquakes in NZ before now but not as strong as this, and the epicentre was many miles away from here. No damage at all just a scare! I soon got back to the day 😀. I walked down to the PO and back this morning, it was overcast but not too windy thank goodness.

So, what I have been up to the last few days

The first Minions quilt is finished

The kids are all clothed

We have had some interesting clouds going by this week

One evening I caught sight of the full moon just as it was being covered by the clouds

The Star quilt is all together and has gone to be quilted

todays Anthology blocks are done

The squirrels got me this afternoon, I found these bears already cut out, I think they came with a fabric collection I bought a few years ago, I gave them borders and now they are Santa Sacks, they need their draw string, I will get that from the hard ware shop tomorrow.  They will go to Jan Mac once I finish the other Minion quilt and dress the two sloths that came home with me yesterday 😉.

I can smell dinner cooking so had better go and give it a check.

Spring

 has made itself felt here in out little part of the world, we have had some beautiful days, I have had some great walks along the beach

Calm and peaceful

Monday I got to take Hank for a walk, his parents both had to go to the office for the first time in months, so I was asked to call in and say hello. We went for a 5 km walk, I was exhausted, he got home and did mad zoomies around the back yard!!

Contemplating the water down at the pier, he came back to our house for most of the day and then went back home. Of course when his Mum got home he told her he had been home alone all day!!!! Big sook! Actually to be fair he is a rescue dog and has separation anxiety, so it was good we could have him with us for most of the day.

Sunday afternoon I got out in the howling wind and sandwiched this Minions quilt, I just got it done when the rain came.

The postcard for the Guild challenge is finished, I think we are having a show and tell of photos in one of the newsletters as we are not able to meet in the usual numbers.

This week I also made three Santa Sacks which will go to Jan Mack

Tow Anthology blocks were made today, the one on the right sadly does not meet where it should but the over all measurements are correct so I am not mucking with it.

Only one jumper has been finished, Panda is still waiting and another sloth came home with me this week.

This afternoon I sewed another few stars, I think I have another 5 to go and then I need to work out how to sew them all together. 

I had better be off I cam smell dinner is nearly ready and I need to make gravy.

Slowly

 plugging away here, I finished a quilt on Tuesday for the local Kinship Carers

Made from 6 fat quarters, this has made a tiny difference to my stash!!

And this weeks Anthology block.

I found this cute little guy at the local newsagents, so am in the process of knitting him a vest and then he/she will go off to Jan Mack of Oz Comfort Quilts, it is getting closer to Christmas (gulp) so I am sure cuddly toys will be needed.

I have spent the morning doing domestics and have moved onto making binding, cutting and ironing pieces for another quilt. Now for some lunch and then back to it again.

FNWF and Zoom

 Friday night I joined in with virtual friends to stitch away together, I was lucky to be able to start in the afternoon, so I cut sashings and finished off this quick top, the panel was given to me by Ingrid.

Simple but I am happy with it.

Then I put the sashings and corner stones onto the batik quilt, it is a bit brighter than it looks in this photo.

Saturday I joined Chooky and friends for a morning zoom session

It is always wonderful to catch up with these ladies from Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Canada and USA. Great conversation, we manage to put the world to rights and see many wonderful projects being worked on. Time just flies by.

Once I had a cuppa and got my needle threaded, I finished off these three hexie flowers for the Mystery hexie quilt, I think I have another three to make.

I have been for a long walk this morning, along the beach and then up and around the new subdivision behind us, then back home. It is spring like again today and really pleasant to be outside.

Think I might go sandwich the batik quilt this afternoon.

I woke

 up this morning to heavy rain and thunder, such a change from yesterday! We have had rain on and off for most of the day so far.

the garden will be very happy, the galahs have been flying about in and out of the big gum tree announcing the arrival of the rain, the garden will be happy to have a natural drink.

I forgot to add this to the last post, there were probably enough photos there anyway!

I had better be off and get some things done.

Energy levels restored

 I am happy to say the iron infusion has kicked in this week and the squirrel is back in action, we have been doing a little of this and a little of that!! 😀

We had a beautiful Spring day earlier this week, it was wonderful to be out in the garden, I am happy to say this bed is now weed free

different story out the back but we will get to it!

Tuesday I decided to sandwich a quilt top that has been waiting for ages

it is done but still waiting for some quilting attention.

I have also cut pieces for a new quilt...as you do when you have several others to finish!!

A few more stars have been sewn.

Mt sewing room smells amazing, the jasmine is nearly done but the freesias are wonderful.

This weeks Anthology block

A few more of these little guys have been sewn together...they are very small and one row takes me a while and you don't have a lot to show for it, but it will grow slowly, slowly.

We have a lemon and tangelo tree in the back yard, both with a lot of fruit, so I bought two oranges and a grapefruit to add to what we had and chopped it up to soak over night

Yesterday we ended up with 14 jars of marmalade. Yum.

the blocks are all finished for the batik quilt, now I need to cut sashings, I got a bit distracted (squirrelled)and started another quilt top with  Minions image on it, I hope to get back to both of them today. 

My major distraction over the last couple of weeks has been this book series

The Seven Sisters is the first in the series, six daughters adopted from different countries around the world, but a wealthy mysterious man. When he dies the sisters are given the information to find where they came from and any biological family they might have in the world.  I have them on my Kindle as we don't have access to the library at present because of the lockdown.
