I think it is time

to do another blog post. The last couple of weeks seem to have been busy, I am not sure what with to be honest. The summer garden planting has started with tomatoes, beans, peas and corn, I think I will add a few more seedlings in another week or so.

Sewing has been happening here in fits and starts, the weather has been up and down, some rain with lots of sunshine and spring days.

I have made a little more progress on Tea and Cake

The green row is slowly growing, this is taking a while as it is a long border to get around and we have been watching a Danish programme on Netflix and I need to read the subtitles to understand what is happening!
I read this book during the week and really enjoyed it

this is the current read and I have lots several hours this afternoon in this book. Thoroughly enjoying it so far.
A nice afternoon for sandwiching

I enjoy the view either way

I have had some great walks down near the board walk it is amazing what you see when you still for a while and take in what is around you

and past the yacht club
some blocks I have been working on, I hope to get the top finished this week, actually this was supposed to be this afternoons job but that didn't happen!!

Over the last week I have made this Minion quilt, it is for an Aussie Hero and will go in the mail once I have confirmed the address. Minions still make me happy!
One afternoon last week I quilted this quilt for one of the Bellarine Quilters ladies, it was too big to wrestle under her machine. I have sewn the ever faithful serpentine stitch on the diagonal both ways. Jan has made this entirely from others scraps, she makes amazing quilts.
Last Friday I went into Geelong to have a look at the Wagga and Quilt display at the Wool Museum

It was amazing the things were used to make quilts to keep families warm, especially during the depression when there was no money and people really had to use what ever they could find.

I didn't get a photo but the first Wagga's were made from flour sacks from the flour mill in Wagga Wagga, very basic but wonderful to keep warm.
Last weeks Anthology block, slightly wonky I am happy with it

This weeks Anthology block.
I think that is enough for now, are you still awake poor reader!!
I had better make a move hubby is wanting some dinner.
Happy stitching.

  2. I think it is about time you posted, too. =) So many lovely quilts in process to be seen here. The Bellarine Quilters ladies' quilt is striking. Gosh, it is a fabulous design. I know I have said this before, but you really have the best place in which to sit and stitch. How wonderful to take walks on the boardwalk and take in all that glorious nature. The Minions quilt is adorable. I find it fascinating what people foraged to make their quilts from, way back when.

  3. Beautiful photos, you have done an enormous lot this week. Love the sewing, and the information from the museum, how people sewed their quilts from everything they could get their hands one. They were strong and determined women! Thanks for sharing! Have a great week, hugs, Valerie

  5. Well, you have been busy stitching quilts, for one thing. I’m so jealous of you attending the Wagga exhibition. It would be so interesting to see. Annette Gero says the name originates from the Wagga Lily brand. I found and bought a Wagga Lily flour bag last year at Lake Cargelligo. I as rather excited about it, as I have a few from our local mill.

  7. Lovely pastimes, garden, books, walking by the sea and quilting. You are enjoying your spring weather. It all sounds wonderful to me.
We finally have decent rain and the earth has softened but I can't be bothered with winter planting yet

  8. That looks an interesting exhibition. Good progress in the sewing room on your variety of projects. I am not a fan of having to read subtitles...I think I read too slow as I am concentrating on the words and missing the visuals. I have been told that it is an art....yet to be learnt by me.

  9. Another great variety of things going on for you Sue. Love the Minions quilt - Sid is right in to Minions at the moment. They sure are happy fun things. Your Anthology blocks are all looking wonderful. Such pretty scenery on your walks & I think being out on the deck sandwiching a quilt would be quite perfect!!

  16. I always enjoy seeing your quilts displayed out on the deck. It seems we all have a certain spot that works well for photographing our quilt projects. Mine is on the living room floor.
I will have to check out those books you have been reading.
It is great to get back to reading your blog! Great scenery and bird photos!

  19. It sounds like you are well and truly keeping out of mischief! It's always nice to see photos from your walks and well done on the gardening. We've started some vege planting and will carry on this weekend, weather permitting! I refuse to watch anything with sub-titles as I can't stitch at the same time!! The visit to the wool museum looks really interesting - amazing what people had to make do with in the past; we're so lucky these days with so many choices. Your projects are all lovely - and it's great to see your hexie quilt grow.
