The days are rushing by here, so what have I been doing? Some packing and sorting, some sewing, some bike riding and some preserving...lets have a look
Three weeks of Anthology blocks,
Epp was finished
It was supposed to be made into a cushion top, but I had another idea which I can show later. I don't understand why I didn't finish this sooner, it really didn't take very long.
Hexies have been cut and glued for Tea and Cake, I now have 420 made, but need 480 and have run out of fabric. Hopefully I can get more next week.
a small bag of fabric is now a bunch of cropped diamonds ready for sewing
A large group of galahs flew in and settled on the power lines over the road, lots of chattering was going on. I like to think they are still unhappy with the tree removal from next door, but that is probably me and not them!!
Such lovely birds.
I was sewing the binding onto this quilt last night and had a very nearly not enough binding moment, thankfully I had about 2 inches spare.
Sylvia's Bridal Sampler is finished, binding completed Wednesday evening.
I bought this pattern recently from a friend, I have made it slightly bigger than the pattern, I still need to add borders.
And when I was sorting things in the sewing room I came across a pile of mostly 6 inch squares - these came with another quilters stash, some were a bit over 6inches and some under, I had to cut a few myself to replace the smaller ones and by late afternoon I had a quilt top, great for an I Spy quilt. The borders used up fabric from my stash.
This morning a brew of fig paste went into the crock pot and cooked away all day, it tastes and smells heaps better than it looks here!! It is all in jars now and ready to go into the fridge.
We went shopping yesterday and have purchased most of what is needed for the renovations, we just need a kitchen sink, we like the old fashioned type that has a drainer at both sides of the sink and a double sink, so we have to find one, we also need to get a new oven. Hopefully everything will then progress as planned...fingers crossed!
I think I need a cuppa, have been avoiding the TV as the footie season has started again! Oh boy!
Happy stitching.
Wow, you have been busy. You have some lovely quilts and tops finished. Please what is the name of the top with dragonflies appliqued on?
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the renovations.
You have been busy in the sewing room despite all the displacement of renovations. Hope you find the right sink and oven soon.
ReplyDeleteOh well doen with Sylvia's (I think mine is still in the box waitign to be quilted) yours is magnificent and Anthology will be too soon. Your EPP is so effective and pretty. And sweet little quilts done. Good to have got your figs done before all the reno's start.... It's exciting

Gosh you sure do keep busy Sue ... & achieve lots! Your anthology blocks are looking wonderful. Its great you can use up those blocks & scraps for an Eye spy quilt. I have been thinking of you & hoping your renos were going okay. Love the new header. xx
ReplyDeleteNo footy here on my TV. =) Oh my goodness, time might fly there, Sue, but wow, so much gorgeous sewing being done. Sylvia's Bridal Shower quilt is gorgeous! All those pretty blocks look stunning with the yellow sashing. And....the lovely quilt with the dragonflies flitting everywhere is amazing. I don't suppose you have a quilting fairy hiding there somewhere which helps you?? This post is overflowing with fabulousness stitched by your fabulous fingers!
ReplyDeleteYou have so many wonderful projects! I love seeing your blocks and quilts.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lot going on there Sue. Love your sampler finish, beautiful. How many more Anthology blocks do you have to do? The design with the dragonflies is gorgeous and those galahs are stunning, I am sure they miss the tree as much as you! xx
ReplyDeleteI’m not a footy person either. What is the recipe for your fig paste
ReplyDeleteGosh, you've been up to plenty! Sylvia's quilt is lovely - such a great variety of blocks. Your Anthology blocks are looking great too and I love the 'cushion' that sounds like it's going to become something else! That's a big flock of Galah - I bet they were really noisy! So productive with your other quilts too plus the preserving!
ReplyDeleteYou wear me out just reading your post Sue.
ReplyDeleteSylvia's Bridal quilt is lovely as is the one you finished with the reeds and dragonflys. I Spy quilts are always loved too.
Nice Anthology Blocks and a great pile of EPPs ready to sew.
Good luck with your hunting for items needed for the renovation...
Busy as ever x
ReplyDeleteHope you can find the sink you want .. for the price you want to pay x Good Luck x
Your Ruby block is gorgeous! I left all mine at Mum’s and as I’ve not stayed there awhile they’re languishing in the drawer. Sylvia looks fantastic! You’ve been sew busy, puts me to shame!
ReplyDeleteDo hope sylvia is coming for show and tell......
ReplyDeleteCongrats your getting lots of sewing done....I need to get my SS project finished also......17 sleeps and we will be together......
OOOhhh nice work going on at your place.
ReplyDeleteHope you find more of your fabric too...xox
Love your header. Soooo many lovely projects again. Busy gal again.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sewing! Oh thank goodness you had just enough binding. The galahs are so pretty, such vibrant red!

I am so looking forward to your anthology quilt - Sylvias Bridal sample looks great in the bright colours.
ReplyDeleteThat is a LOT of hexies - hope you can get more fabric...then we may start to see the project.
Happy renovating..not always as easy as it should be!
Sue - love the Bridal Sampler and the quilt with the dragonflies - its colors are a palette that I adore. It's hard for me to imagine that a flock of Galahs are just hanging out in your neighborhood! (On another note, I am getting close to finishing my jigsaw!!!)
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of fig paste before. I will take your word for how it tastes. It kind of looks like what I called cooked cereal or cream of wheat. I love that stuff.
