This week

 I have been doing bits and pieces, the vest for Finn is finished and has been delivered, the book case is a bit closer to being finished

the strips on the side need to be added and then it is done, I was going to add more sashings but think it is big enough.

the heap of knitted squares are now a blanket, all sewn together and a crochet edge added, ready to go to KOGO

Last Wednesday's Anthology block

Last Thursday evening I backed out in hubbies car at about 6pm to deliver dinner to Adam and Beth and misjudged the driveway and collected the end of the fence. I wasn't going that fast I didn't think, but a good third of the wall has fallen down  and hubbies car is damaged. The car has been to the repair shop, I was told the damage was not that bad and it can easily be fixed, we are waiting to hear more. Same with the front fence. We might go for a colour bond fence across the front and a gate, I will feel a bit safer after  hubbies wheelie walker was taken from the front of the house.

I was tidying up and found these strips hanging behind the door - they should have been made into a Row by Row back in 2017! The Bellarine Quilters had a challenge back them and mine has never been finished! Maybe this year.

Out in the garden, the bird feeders are mostly frequented by possums I thinl!!

Two blocks for Anthology this week. Those 1 inch squares and half square triangles are not easy to work with!!

I have been in the garden today and all the buddleia bushes are finally pruned.

I have attached one of the bird boxes to the fence. I had a look inside, it has a soft base of plant material in the bottom, then bits of plastic and chocolate wrappers and I egg!! We have galahs using the other box, they raised a young one, I hope the egg will be ok and that the birds come back to the box.

The other box is still in place, the one on the fence used to be attached under this box, it fell of in the windy weather this week.

I had better make a move and get some dinner under way.

 I have been doing a lot of ironing, cutting and preparing this week, getting ready for Scrub Stitching

Fabric cut for one quilt

two quilts

#3 quilt, more fabric is coming in the mail, I hope it gets here before the weekend. I am doing fat quarter blocks for these quilts so they should come together quite quickly . (She says hopefully!!)

When I was in the kitchen this morning  I could hear and see a galah outside, I thought it might nave been interested in the vege garden below but it's mate was in the tree just a bit further along feasting on these red berries, it was not at all bothered that I went out to say hello and take some pictures.

I spent quite a bit of time on the kitchen this morning preparing the figs for some more jam, there are so many figs on the tree, the birds are having a feast, I watched a silver eye demolish a fig about the same size as its body when I went out this morning.  I have made 10 jars this season so far.

This scrappy quilt is finished, thanks to Joan for the quilting. Joan did a spider web design and it looks amazing.

and the Foundation Paper Pieced hearts are finished.

Two more blocks have been done for Anthology, sorry blogger decided they had to be turned around!

I was given these blocks, they are the last of Kates things, Judy, one local quilter has, 

I am going to add them to the sides of this quilt top started ages ago and never finished, it is long enough but not wide enough, this may just solve the problem.

I had better be off and sort the mess in the sewing room.

One Day Late

 I am one day late with my Churn dash SAL organised by Chooky, somehow it is October already.

I spent Thursday sewing away , quite a lot of unsewing happened too as I had trouble getting the triangle pieces going the right way. I finally finished after dinner and am very happy with the flimsy.

Now to get it quilted.

Two more Anthology blocks have been made

I think I have about 40 to go - seems a bit more obtainable now.

We have had some nice days for beach walks

This galah was watching a fissure in a tree where a rainbow lorikeet was nesting, maybe there is competition for homes here!

Ths galah was sitting on the perch watching what was going on.

I love this time of the year when I can go to the bush by the beach and pick a huge handful of freesias, they grow wild down there. I had some in each room of the house and the smell was wonderful.

The Aussie Hero Quilt is finished and in the mail, the request was for Aussie flowers and birds, plus the Rising Sun and Infantry badge.

This was an unfinished photo, I can't find a finished one!!

I spent one afternoon this making green blocks - the retreat ladies were given green strips from Kates stash and were asked to make blocks we can put together next retreat into a quilt. I added some extra green fabrics I had here.

I think that is me all caught up for now, I am off to sew some backing pieces together.

 The days are rushing by here, so what have I been doing? Some packing and sorting, some sewing, some bike riding and some preserving...lets have a look

Three weeks of Anthology blocks,

Epp was finished

It was supposed to be made into a cushion top, but I had another idea which I can show later. I don't understand why I didn't finish this sooner, it really didn't take very long.

Hexies have been cut and glued for Tea and Cake, I now have 420 made, but need 480 and have run out of fabric. Hopefully I can get more next week.

A large group of galahs flew in and settled on the power lines over the road, lots of chattering was going on. I like to think they are still unhappy with the tree removal from next door, but that is probably me and not them!!

I was sewing the binding onto this quilt last night and had a very nearly not enough binding moment, thankfully I had about 2 inches spare.

Sylvia's Bridal Sampler is finished, binding completed Wednesday evening.

I bought this pattern recently from a friend, I have made it slightly bigger than the pattern, I still need to add borders.

And when I was sorting things in the sewing room I came across a pile of mostly 6 inch squares - these came with another quilters stash, some were a bit over 6inches and some under, I had to cut a few myself to replace the smaller ones and by late afternoon I had a quilt top, great for an I Spy quilt. The borders used up fabric from my stash. 

This morning a brew of fig paste went into the crock pot and cooked away all day, it tastes and smells heaps better than it looks here!! It is all in jars now and ready to go into the fridge.

We went shopping yesterday and have purchased most of what is needed for the renovations, we just need a kitchen sink, we like the old fashioned type that has a drainer at both sides of the sink and a double sink, so we have to find one, we also need to get a new oven. Hopefully everything will then progress as planned...fingers crossed!

I think I need a cuppa, have been avoiding the TV as the footie season has started again! Oh boy!
