On arrival to check in for the Indian Pacific train we were told the train was in Lithgow and couldn't get through because of trees on the line. So after lunch we were bussed to Lithgow via the Blue Mountains . We got off at Echo Point for a cuppa or glass of bubbles.
It was cold, windy and raining but the view was amazing.
We were driven to another lookout place and continued on Lithgow. Once on the train we found our cabin and settled in. We had dinner in the dining carriage, a few beverages and then to bed. Not much sleep was had it was hot and noisy except for when the train broke down, which made us late for our stop in Broken Hill. A letter was pushed under the door this morning saying excursions in Broken Hill were cancelled, so the train could make up for lost time.
Morning view from the train
We stopped for water in Broken Hill, our carriage ran out last night
I had chosen to see Shelita Buffet a drag act, a walk thru Broken Hill and then drag bingo. Luckily Shelita came onto the train and did 3 performances thru the morning she was greatly enjoyed.
Carriage where we have our meals. We are heading to Adelaide now, back on schedule.
Hope to publish this before I loose connection again.
Happy stitching.

Gosh Sue ... lots of issues that popped up & delayed you. I am glad you are back on schedule now - it looks a wonderful trip through some great country.
ReplyDeleteWell, lots of ups and downs! But the scenery is amazing! It's a trip I would love to do. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a trip! I'd love a long train journey. Keep on enjoying yourselves 😁
ReplyDeleteSome things are beyond our control.I hope the rest of your trip goes to plan!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity your trip has been so interrupted. I have done this trip a few times and just loved it. The only disappointment is that you don't get to see much in NSW anyway as the trip is done at night. Good luck for the remaining kms.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame about the hiccups to your trip - I hope the rest goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got there in the end. Hope the rest of the trip was successful
ReplyDeleteWhat a way to start your trip. Tony and I take the train through the blue mountains each time we go to see Janice and Mick, it is beautiful countryside. I hope the rest of your trip goes well.
ReplyDeleteAn adventure! One of my sons was working at Broken Hill....NOT as a Drag Queen though :))
ReplyDeletePity about the delays but I'm sure the rest of the trip will be fantastic. Grandiboy was supposed to do a Sydney connection on that same day but came straight here instead which was in fact easier and they upgraded him to premium seating! bonus
ReplyDeleteHugz
What an adventure you are having!
ReplyDeleteWhat incredible views!
Hope things can go a little smoother going forward.
what a shame you didn't see much of Broken Hill it is unique very hot in summer which is when we were there, enjoy the rest of your trip
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of the scenery as you travelled. What a shame about the start to your trip but I guess because of scheduling they couldn't do anything else. Hope the meals were good!
