Tiki tour day 2 Echuca

We eased into the day today, enjoyed breakfast and then walked down to the old port. We got tickets to do a trip on the Pevensey steam boat

Practising the art of the selfie!! 😂
We were on the boat for about an hour
This boat was renamed the Philadelphia or the filming of the movie All the Rivers run.
There were three cabins on the top deck, people must have been very short back then as the beds were tiny!
Steam engine working away powering the two paddle wheels
After the boat trip we looked at some static steam engines and things they drove up on the bank and then went tourist shopping at the discovery centre, we did look at historic stuff too!
We saw this beautiful window and thought it would make a wonderful quilt.
This was a section about women boat captains on the Murray.
We walked about the old wharf area finding answers for an Adventure Lab
Clydesdale horses pulling coaches
This building was all that remains of a brothel established by a hotel owner, there was a wooden building in front of the brick but that was burned down, year's ago.
Walking back to our accommodation we crossed the Campaspe River a couple of times.
Have been sitting outside but heading in now as  it is cold! The cockatoos and corellas are all coming into the gum trees and they are very loud!!
Tomorrow we are heading off to Forbes.
Happy stitching.

  6. How wonderful Sue - I am catching up on your posts. I always envy these trips you & Raewyn do on the way to Baradine. I have been on a paddle steamer on the Murray River many years ago (cannot remember the name of it) with Mum & my Aunt & Uncle. I loved Echuca & seem to remember some cute little shops there too. Enjoy your adventure both of you. xx
