Catching up again 😃

I am happy to have had a few finishes

A cat quilt finished for Shane and Rillas cats -  front

Back...they can swap around as they like 

A cushion cover made from left over backing from a baby quilt

A bag with a little NZ purse went to Jenny in NZ for a cancer fund-raising lunch, it looked great when Jenny wrapped it up

I had a walk around the lake at Drysdale on Monday

It was a bit cold and windy with spotty rain 

This gum tree was heaving with rainbow lorrikeets busy feeding on the blossom

I saw these mosaic pictures on a fence.

I have read a few books lately, I really enjoyed these.

One sunny afternoon walk past the boat ramp. Pelicans waiting for the fishing people to come back in 😄

David and I went to the light show in the Geelong Botanic Gardens,  it was amazing

Ok my phone has stopped cooperating with loading photos so I will finish up here and continue later.  Now I am on the lap top so lets see how we go here!  

 I took many more photos and some videos - I have no idea how to load them here, so you are all spared that!! Although the talking tree was really good.

And finally the baby quilt is finished now and ready to go to it's new home

The BIG catch up

 Well Jenny has been and gone and we have stitched and crocheted (is that even a word??) and finished 10 KOGO blankets which have been delivered to the chemist for delivery to KOGO. Phew!

I have missed one somehow but you get the gist. This lot went together well, some look better than others but I am sure the people they go to will be very happy with them and the warmth they provide.

this was how I was most evenings, sitting across from Jenny.

We had lunch out at Van Loons, my fav lunch place

We went with Mary, a Bellerine Quilter, it was a cold and wet day but we were given blankets and there was a heater on nearby, we were in the Atrium so a little open to the elements.

Jenny is taking home the red work quilt top I was given, so a backing was put together

a local quilter will be doing it for Jenny and now it can be double sided.

The Geelong Guild held their Quilt In last Saturday, they had a crowd of 292 people, we had a very good day

The speaker was Tania Tanti, her work was amazing, modern and quite different, some even had parts that moved when she adapted them to her computer programme. She was a wonderful speaker, she has had many issues with her health over the last few years, she was booked for last year but had just had surgery and so couldn't come.  This year she had another surgery 10 days before the Quilt In but made it to see us with the support of her husband. She had everyone enthralled.

We have had a few visits from this young man, golf was played in amongst the mushrooms in the back yard, he wanted to wear a glove but eventually decided his grandfathers gardening glove was too big and not helpful to his game 😀

I had a dentist appointment in Drysdale so went over a bit earlier and had a walk in the foggy drizzle around the small lake there

there were lots of cobwebs in the trees, they showed up well with the moisture on them

this is out of order, the pelicans down at the boat launching ramp waiting for the fishing people to return

back at Drysdale and another cobweb, luckily I didn't see any spiders.

OK I think that is enough from me and it is me all caught up!

I am off now to get the fish and chips for dinner.

Since

Returning home life has been busy, appointments for hubby and myself,  grass to cut, gardens to weed, house to clean, all that stuff, plus tone to be spent with this young man 

Who has discovered what you can do with his Grandmothers phone!! 

I have finished one of the Christmas quilts to go to the special care nursery at SJOG 

I have sewn together one of the charm packs I found at the Albury (I think) quilt shop Raewyn will correct me if I have the wrong place 😉 plus some batik fabric

It looked a bit bland so I added a purple border and then used up the rest of the batiks

One patchy quilt top done.  Happy the top is sewn together and the fabric hasn't taken up residence on the fabric shelves! 

We have had some lovely days this last week

We had some visitors to the front deck one day recently 

This one let me hand feed it for a little while , it enjoyed the seed cereal topper.

I am off to Gisborne next week  for a retreat  8 of us to sew up a storm!!

This and that, could be photo heavy

We had a great speaker at the Guild, she talked us through her stitching journey, showed us loads of her creations, she is mainly an embroiderer but is fascinated with how younger people tattoo themselves

This amazing creation was covered with embroidered plants, flowers, animals, birds, was stunning to see

Loved this cloth with old sailor tattoos, did you know sailors had a pig tattooed on one foot and a rooster on the other? Live stock were most likely to survive after a ship wreck as they were in a wooden crate, but the sailors saw them as good luck and so had the tattoo. Most sailors back in the day could not swim.

The 3D cars were amazing, they came about when she worked with people with disabilities.

I went to visit Adam and family, Finn was helping cook dinner, curried prawns with rice! 

I was up early one morning and saw this beautiful sunrise 

I have had a few beach walks

Some prep has been happening for Baradine

I was given  a heap of I Spy fabrics ( you know those ones that appear at sewing group and you can't leave them behind??)so they have been trimmed and laid out to be pinned.

The strip quilt is finished.

The Guild have been asked to make small Christmas quilts and stocking for one of the hospitals in Geelong, they will be given to children and families who have to spend Christmas in hospital. So I thought I would make this one up.

Another project cut and ready to go, I was given this year's ago to make up for the Oncology dept, so now is the time to get it done!! 

The pelicans were waiting on a fisherman to clean his fish, they always get a hand out. 

I followed this man along the beach this afternoon, his dog (white and far right) was having a great time running around.

Tomorrow we are off to SJOG to the Parkinson's support group,  they have a watercolour artist coming in to teach people with Parkinson's to paint a double coloured tulip. David will really enjoy that. I will go for a walk and take stitching and a book.....
