Beautiful sunny day today

This morning I checked my emails and saw Chooky was having a zoom for an hour so quickly got my things together and joined in.

It was lovely to catch up with everyone.

Summer has returned again today and it is quite hot. I did some gardening this morning and came in for lunch looking like tomato face!!

I cleaned off the table on the front deck and sandwiched two quilts out there, it was a bit breezy but not too bad

I can hear many boats and jet skis out on the water.
Yesterday I went to the quilt shop in Gisborne and did a class with Irene Blanck, she is a wizz with applique. I have had a project of hers for many years so decided it was time to relearn applique and get it made.
Irene helped me with the curved seams and did the beak as a demo, there are a few more circles to add before this part is finished.
I have also finished the binding on two quilts

Such a good feeling to have them finished.
Last weekend we went to David's niece's 30th at her place in Wonthaggi. We stayed in a cabin at the campground at Kilcunda. Sometimes, well most times, this is a very windy place as the southerly wind hurls straight of the ocean, but we struck a beautiful weekend.
Friday evening I had a beach walk

Saturday morning we went for a bike ride along the rail trail

me following hubby

we stopped to look for a cache and found some kangaroos watching us

and I finally found the cache, thank goodness!
I had another ride, early afternoon before we went out, the trail went inland away from the coast, I was looking for caches but saw a snake so that changed my mind pretty quickly!

View to the ocean heading back.
The figs are ripening on the tree and I can't do much with them, but I did see a recipe for fig vodka, which was a bottle of vodka put into a large glass container, then you add three cups of washed, chopped figs, give it a swirl around and put it in a dark place. I was supposed to swirl it each day, but often didn't remember. It was in a  cupboard for 7 days, then I took it out and strained it off. I had a taste the other day and it is pretty good!
I think that is enough from me for now 😄, it is fish and chip night at Adam and Beth place, hopefully by the time I get there the footie will be nearly finished 👍.
Happy stitching and have a wonderful week.

Here and there

We have had a busy time the last few days and not a lot of sewing has happened. We had settlement on the new (to us) house on Friday, so on Saturday morning we moved some things in, just a car load for me, I lost count of how many times I walked up and down the stairs both here and there.
this is where we are going to.
Then Saturday afternoon we drove to Queenscliff ad got the ferry to Sorrento, big experience for the Supervisor, he did not like the stairs so we had to take him on the lift!!!
The  we drove to Neerena (2hrs)and found our friends at their holiday place.
They have 5 acres in beautiful dairy country, it reminds me of NZ.
Jenny and I did some geocaching in the evening
first cache at the local cricket ground

second on the side of the road...fantastic cache holder!!

just because!!

the view from the house in the morning

I love these ducks by the pond, which was full of frogs!!

We went for a walk along the Great Southern Rail Trail, we did a return trip of about 6km, punctuated with finding geocaches!!!

The supervisor was ok on the ferry home, just not sure about what was going on!!
I didn't get a lot of sewing done but some bits and pieces
a little applique on a block for the Seachange Quilters raffle quilt for next years show

a little stitchery, sorry this one has gone sideways!!

and the start of a scarf for KOGO.
I am off to return my library books and then off for a sewing day at Bellarine Quilters.
Happy sewing.

Wednesday wanderings

This was the view along the beach this morning, such a beautiful calm morning.....the ripple in the water was this dog

having wonderful fun swimming out to retrieve a ball......I went off to sewing at the local community space and we had a bit of amazing show and tell.

Jill has finished her applique blocks...these are just beautiful..

aren't they amazing, she does the most beautiful applique!!
Then Kath finished her last block on the quilt she is making

and laid it all out for us to see...isn't that beautiful!!This is the first quilt Kath has made!! Some hand sewing and some machine...
This afternoon we went into Geelong to the movies and saw The Hunt for the Wilderpeople!! I loved it and yes I know I am a Kiwi and there for biased, but David enjoyed it too, there was a grand total of 10 people at the 1.30pm showing and we all laughed and cried and enjoyed ourselves!! We all came out smiling so that says something!! I recommend anyone going to see it!!

This was the sea and sky just as we got home...so peaceful and lovely colours.

I have finished the applique flower and reverse applique on the label...had to do the flower twice and this is how it is staying, just needs it's yellow centre and then I can do the outer circle. A job for tomorrow!!

I have one more KOGO blanket to make, have pinned the squares together now I need to sew them! Is good to do in the evenings.
I had better go and get some dinner organised!! Although I must confess I am onto my second G & T and am not really bothered anymore!! Lol!!
Happy sewing.

The beautiful Santa made by Shez that came home with me, plus elephant and bear

how cute is that face???

Then we moved on to show and tell...Marg made this as a challenge..she was given the blue panel to which she added the Japanese fabric and beads and stitching. Annie checking it out!!!  PS Thanks for all your help today Annie!! It was much appreciated. :-)

some serious discussion happening here with Anne, Annie and Marg....table topper made by Shez.

A gathering of swap items.

and a gathering of bloggers!! But it is soooooo hard to get everyone in the shot...Tracee is missing, well I can see the top of her head!!
this one is a bit more serious and I am talking but we can get a peek at Tracee, but Ann is hiding  and Annie is blocked and Elyte is hiding too!! Combining both photos we get a look at everyone!!
Thank you for a wonderful day ladies!!

On the way home I stopped in Geelong to look for two geocaches..no luck with either, I am hopeless at searching when I am in a busy place!!!

I was at the top of the stairs searching while all kinds of sports people were going down the stairs to the pool below, they were standing in the COLD water ...must be good recovery for the muscles of the legs!!

Not much to show for today, one wonky looking applique flower!!
