Exhibition

This past week has been super busy with driving back and forth to West Geelong, takes me about 45 minutes depending on the traffic, calling at the Guild storage unit, the printers and post office. I tried to help set up a slide show and failed until one of the Guild members mentioned her hubby was out having a walk to fill in time, so he came in and helped and all was good, slide show up and working!
I have taken a few photos, we have been told not to put photos of others quilts on social media, but the quilts will be on line when the newsletter is published so I am just getting in a little early with a sneak peek.

two general views

My Doing the Rounds

and the Nosy Neighbour applique

another general view, I have just realised as I go through the photos I didn't take a photo of the International Sisters! I will do that tomorrow. I like that the black sheets were not put up this year where the big quilts are, it seems much lighter and you get all kind of interesting views through the exhibition.

Back home one more star has been finished

today I have been in and out of the sewing room, the Supervisor is confused, when will she stay in one place he is thinking!!

I have sewn the binding onto a quilt that is going to the SJOG hospital while listening to the Bee Gees.

At the last Guild meeting we had the Go Cutter out so I had a play with a few fabrics and cut some birds, yesterday I found some fine braid which I have sewn onto the background and then ironed the birds in place. The yellow looking birds are actually orange. I need to cut a few more birds so this project will go back on the shelf for a while.
I have another quilt to bind so had better make a move and get it started, the afternoon is getting away on me!
Happy stitching.

Another catch up

Last Saturday was Guild meeting
this beautiful quilt was made from a kit

this beautiful cat quilt was also made from a kit

It is a challenge to me to try and get a photo of Tracee and Marg.....I got the hand block in this photo but it was the best one!

Sunday we had the boys and their partners over for lunch, we were celebrating Adam's 30th birthday. Even Hank the Labrador got into the photo!!

We had a wander along the beach after lunch, it was a little cool!

Today I received the next block of the Old Time Kaleidoscope, I haven't started the last one yet!! Woops!

Yesterday I got a lovely package in the mail from Ingrid, hubby would not let me open it until today.
There are two patterns, animal inspiration cards, a sticker and bag for taking a book to the beach, or some hand sewing to group..lots of uses.

I was given a bottle of strawberry flavoured gin for my birthday, so today is tasting day! It is very nice!!

Ingrid also made me this - look at all those triangles (90 in all I am told)- I had to ring Ingrid and ask what this is...how embarrassing...it is a sewing machine cover. The little pockets go at the front and it ties at each end. Perfect. I have a tea towel over mine, so now I will be very much up market!

The machine cover has been approved by the Supervisor I am happy to say!
Ok I am off to sample more gin, and try to finish some sewing for the sales table at the Guild Exhibition this weekend. Nothing like last minute!
Happy stitching.

Daily happenings

We have been for a walk along the beach most mornings

Everything gets a thorough check!!

I have finished a table runner for Ingrid, made from fabric from Donna's stash.

and a table topper for Jenny in the same fabric, lots of interesting recipes on this fabric.

The willy wagtail came along on or walk one day for a little while.

My helpful supervisor was on hand as I lay out the International Sisters blocks one afternoon

Right on hand!!!

So he had to have a squishy hug!! (Not sure the supervisor was impressed!!)

I made a shopping bag one afternoon this week when I should have been doing something else, the fabric was a remnant from a local store.
I had some happy mail this week

a new pattern book.....like I need another one!!

And a beautiful bag made from kimono fabric and a postcard from Pamela. We had an email discussion about the lack of snail mail these days and how we both enjoy receiving some. So we decided to do a postcard swap, or an I will surprise you with mail sometime thing. Pamela sure surprised me. Thank you very much Pamela.

I have finished the sewing on this block, now it needs to be mounted on a 10 x 10 inch board. That is the job for today!! But first sadly I have to vaccum......sigh!!!
Off I go!
Happy stitching.

Life's ups and downs

A good friend of ours Eve, passed away just over a week ago, it was sudden and not expected but Eve did not suffer, had no long lingering illness or dementia, so for that we can be thankful!
Eve and Basil the Bad a few years ago when we were out and about finding garage sales.

I went for a long walk this morning, past the nesting galah, who had popped out to see what I was doing, while I was watching to see what it was doing!!
I tried to get a close up photo, but between extreme zoom lens, the wind and my shaky hand I nearly chopped the poor galah off!

These guys, I think they are oyster catchers, were down in the shallows are were being chased by another two oyster catchers, maybe these were the girls and the others the boys?? I have no idea!!

I went walking along the track on Edwards Point, have not been down here for a long time

stopped and read some of the signs

enjoyed the views and avoided the puddles left from last nights rain

crossed the salt marsh on the board walk.

and cam out on the beach.....the timed exposure didn't know where to focus!

the wind was waving up the water

Off I go along the beach heading back home.

on the way I stopped and picked another big bunch of freesias

back home they went into one of Mum's rose vases.

Some tidying has happened in the sewing room, mainly because we have been switched onto the National Broadband, it happened over a week ago we had internet but no land line. The tech came today and said we were operating on the wifi from the sim card in the new modem box...I was confused by this point!! He tried to connect the land line and then said we hadn't been connected properly, so off he headed down the road to a box under ground, back he came, yes her said we had not been connected properly. He said there are some right duffers working for the NBN, but thank goodness for that as they keep me in a job!! o now I can happily say we are really connected to the internet and we have the good old fashioned landline working!

Yesterday I did some free range quilting on this beautiful applique Ingrid gave me. I just have the squirrel to go...one of today's jobs!

Oops, the not so tidy side of the room...hee hee. The Supervisor has been following me from room to room...when are you going to settle woman he is saying!

a blurry photo of secret sewing, I need to finish it  and get it in the post. Can show more later.

The next Old Time Kaleidoscope is under way, kind of hard to see on the stable table, this one has been a challenge to sew together the right way, but I am slowly getting there.
Ok I am off to do the things I should have done two hours ago.
Happy stitching.
