Windy Wednesday

How has the weather been today, we had to shut the back door this morning to stop the wind from howling in and blowing everything around. Have had builders visiting today so was late taking the Supervisor for a walk
He was frightened of the waves....not good for peaceful wallowing!!!

For some reason these photos are all out of order...blogger has changed the progress of the day!! This was taken just now before the rain came, lots of thunder but it was gone quite quickly. ...travelled off over the bay...

this was later this morning when we went walking.....

first thing this morning...

there were lots of willy wag the tails along the path  today bouncing around

surfs up at St Leonards today
some afternoon sewing.
Happy sewing.

Today..

I was up dressed and fed by eight oclock and guess what?? No concreter's!!!! The builders are here next door but nothing happening here. So the Supervisor and I went for a walk
great colours in the sky this morning...

some  interesting clouds around to day

a beach duck as my boys used to call them.....

the man on the beach had been fishing from his canoe and then had a swim...brave man!!!

morning wallow.....

today I have been to Drysdale, joined the library, registered the dog, explored the shops, found out about getting the locking mechanism fixed on the Festiva, visited the community centre, had a look around the craft centre, went to buy some fish for dinner and then headed home. Phew!! But I am ashamed to say I didn't sew one stitch yesterday, I started writing letters and the time just flew by but now I am off to sew...mind you I have a huge pile of things to read about the Geelong and Bellarine area.........
Happy sewing.

Noisy Tuesday

I awoke this morning to a knock at the door....the concreters were here to start work...it was 8am and I was trying to pretend the day had started!!!! Since then we have had one lot of noise after another......good noise I suppose......
Interesting day today, is quite warm  but trying to rain and the north wind is gusting and making waves....

...came home to this in the front yard......

...this at the side of the house......

the guys working flat out down the back...one was running backwards and forward with the concrete in a wheelbarrow! Phew...I got tired just watching him!!!

....the supervisor is checking out the shopping......

the pohutukawa tree at the side of the house is in flower....this usually happens in November in NZ I think, so not quite sure what is happening here...usually it is a sign of how hot and long summer is going to be.....maybe that is only in NZ....or maybe that was just one of my Dad's stories!!

The supervisor has his bone and is happy for now.....

the guys are still working hard......

David and Peter are putting in a paved area at the other side of the house.....

and after a little domestic work I am going to make a cuppa and get to the binding on this quilt.
Happy sewing.

Monbulk Quilt Show

I have had a wonderful weekend, have stayed with Eve at Boronia and ventured up into the Dandenongs...it was lovely up there on Saturday, slightly misty with the sun coming through the huge gum trees as we drove through the Sherbrooke forest....I thought getting to the show at 9.30 would be good, and we might get a show bag...but no...the queue was out the door and down past the buildings to the road......everyone had the same idea I think!!!
We missed out on a goodie bag but were  given a free pattern for a door stop which  l liked.
There were some beautiful quilts on display...

There is some beautiful stitchery on this quilt

this was a joint group effort .....love the knitted poppies on the right hand side
For some reason this photo insists on being huge!!!!! It is another group quilt.

Love these teddies

Isn't she cute?

A very impressive round quilt

Love this one too!

How cute are these polar bears?

Great colours here

Wow!!

General views at one end of the room

It was very busy so not easy to get photos although I managed quite a few!!

Isn't this beautiful?

And this....

Back outside in the sunny day again off to look at plants now!

And look who I ran into...the lovely City ladies out for a quilting tour day!! I interrupted them enjoying their scones and tea! Was wonderful to see all the lovely ladies and have a chat with them.
Inside Barb Smith had a stall and of course I came home with another selection of beautiful Theodora Cleave buttons......
Just beautiful! Can't wait for Barb's new ideas book to arrive in the post!!
Well enough for today...

Happy sewing.

Soldiering on

I have spent most of today working on the Aussie Hero quilt.....was determined to get it finished today and get the binding on so I can do the hand sewing on the weekend...
..starting the zig zag on the black centre part of the peace sign....this took for ever...in fact 2 and a half hours to do the black bits and then around the circle....

the supervisor is......well sleeping and gently snoring!! Sounds a bit like a purr, but we don't tell him that 'cos he is a dog!!!

...all done...

and the back.....kind of a wobbly circle isn't it!! Lol!!

Work has begun in the back yard for the super shed....the supervisor is a bit on edge now, strangers in the back yard and there are builders next door as well...lots of strange noises for him..

and after many hours the quilting is done......I am considering (only considering) quilting inside the circle, maybe a quarter of an inch inside and outside each seam line....on the coloured parts.....what do you think??
Happy sewing.
