This and that

This is a bit of a catch up post of things that have been happening over the last week or so.
Two Saturdays ago it was the Guild AGM, here is a little of the show and tell, this flimsy above was found in the US and purchased for not much money, the owner was looking for suggestions for quilting.

One of the quilt shops in Geelong, Jiddys,  is closing down sadly and everything is one sale,

a few of my purchases, batik fabric, and a Christmas bag, fat quarters and thread

also fat quarters, a pattern, Xmas fabric, thread and embroidery thread. I might go back for another visit, the shop closes September 30th.
I decided I needed a peg board in the sewing room to store cutters and all the other bits and bobs you seem to gather, so I bought the board, The Bunnings man kindly cut it for me,

at home hubby took over adding the mounting board top and bottom, now I am just waiting for it it be attached to the wall.

I have sewed the binding on to the Star Wars quilt, I wasn't paying proper attention and sewing it on the front first instead of the back, luckily the front has mostly black so the stitching line does not show up too much. Next job is to get all the fluff off the black fabric and write a letter to go with it. It will be in the post early this week hopefully.
Happy stitching.

  2. hard to resist the lure of a sale!!! Buy while you can. Are there other shops in Geelong left??
We may be down that way next April for a wedding - I will try to remember to get some clues form you.

Love the elephant quilt I see there...how cute.

  3. LOL you are not the only one who has started stitching the binding on the wrong side. Lucky you have a handy hubby to make your peg board. Great idea. All those quilts are lovely especially the baby quilts. I am rather slack as I haven't made a quilt for my new grandson due Friday.

  5. You'll have lots of sewing ahead of you after your shopping spree. Super sad to see a shop close, but you may as well get some bargains. I can't wait to see the front of your finished Star Wars quilt. I'm sure it will be appreciated. A pegboard will be very handy. You'll have to share a pic when it is installed.
