Since my last post I have been doing lots of bits of this and that, I started making foundation paper pieced hearts, a project I started on retreat last month, you would think stitching strips of fabric to paper would be fairly straight forward but no, ok Blogger has decided to put the photos in reverse for me so we will have a backwards post!!
I found this fabric in my stash, I have no idea where it came from and though it was fat quarters, but it turned out to he 2 fat quarters and several fat eights. So it became a very simple quilt and will go to hubby's sister once it has it's binding.
This quilt was made by Wendy at the Guild, it has been quilted and needs binding.
I had to wait while a rain shower went over yesterday afternoon so I was watching this magpie looking for food over the fence
and this galah having a shower on the power lines
and then once the shower past I got back to sandwiching this quilt.
Earlier in the week I made another sticky fruit slice, there isn't much left today!
I had bought this panel for Jenny in NZ, she loves flamingos, so over the last week or so I have been playing with free motion quilting and it is now ready to go in the post.
We are nearly back at the start if the photos were not in reverse! I made these foundation paper pieced blocks last weekend, they were not without challenges
this piece I managed to sew folded in half, bet I couldn't do that if I wanted to
And I managed to get a few folds, I was being super careful the fabric was lying flat after making these mistakes.
Well that is my week, so far, in reverse, today is Anthology day so I had better get my skates on and go for a walk and then come back and get sewing.
Happy stitching.
Looks like a very productive few days was had by all.
ReplyDeleteDoing foundation piecing sometimes does my head in. Pretty hearts and great job on quilting the panel. I can see why there is not much fruit slice left.
ReplyDeleteLots of beautiful quilting. I love those hearts. but they do look complicated. The flamingo quilt is fabulous. But the star of the show for me is that wonderful fruit cake, yummy. It wouldn't last long here, either! I'm hoping to make an apple pie this week! Have a great day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteLove them all - love the hearts- though I know foundation piecing is not as easy as it looks!
ReplyDeleteYour SIL will have a nice snuggly quilt. I am sure Jenny will love her pretty Flamingo quilt. I had enough Paper Piecing in Splendid Sampler to last me FOREVER! Your hearts are very pretty so well done! Your slice looks yummo xx
ReplyDeleteGreat work with your quilts.
ReplyDeleteOh that's a mistake I'm sure we have alll done
Lots happening as always. The flamingo panel is gorgeous and I bet that fruit slice was delicious! xx
ReplyDeleteThose foundation pieced hearts look great Sue. Some lovely projects as always. I wonder how long the flamingo will take to get to Jenny. Your slice looks so delicious ... no wonder there's hardly any left !!
ReplyDeleteGood going Sue, plenty to keep you busy. Have fun with the quilting.
ReplyDeleteBusy busy pinning, quilting and baking....
ReplyDeleteOh I've got some foundation pieced blocks to and not looking forward to it... 😬
Lots done again. The flamingo quilt is fun. That slice is so yummy. We will have to make it again.
ReplyDeletesharing for you thank... oops thank you for sharing...lol
ReplyDeleteThe flamingo looks gorgeous as does ALL your projects...xox
It always makes me laugh when you write that you have to put your skates on! My goodness, you accomplish so much - I can't imagine trying to keep up with you! Glorious quilting! Thanks for visiting my blog today, and enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteLol the hearts. Yep, couldn't do it if you tried to. Lovely quilts and the flamingo is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBackwards/forwards...it all works out in the end! I like to add my photos from my phone and then go onto my laptop and add the words. I hate typing without a keyboard!
ReplyDeleteThose hearts are gorgeous! The red looks amazing on the blue background! Paper piecing does take a minute for me to get my head wrapped around the backwardsness of it .
That bird on the wire with red head is pretty cool. I would never see a bird like that in the wild around here!
always so productive........love seeing what you get up to....
ReplyDeletelots of lovely work ..... foundation piecing is a challenge to me.... well done for persisting....
ReplyDeleteHugz
I love it when you share pictures of birds. They are unlike any in this part of the world. When you have little/no leftovers it is a compliment to the chef :-) The hearts are so sweet - full of love and compassion. Hugs to you, Sue.
ReplyDeleteAs always, so many pretty pictures. Are you using the new blogger? People say it’s hard to download photos. I’m still using the legacy version.
ReplyDeleteI really like the hearts. I want to try that technique.
I love those hearts - in spite of your hassles, very effective. I might have to stow that idea away!! Always love seeing your Galah photos - they're such a pretty bird.
