Today we were supposed to go and visit #2 son in the city but he messaged last night to say his girlfriend was not well so we found ourselves with a free day! So thin morning I dragged hubby out geocaching, we combined his morning walk with me finding caches 😀 not sure he was super happy with the idea but he agreed. Now we are back home, I have just been out to the garden to check on some stag ferns I divided a couple of weeks ago, kind of scary as I was not sure where to cut. A few days ago I gave all the plants some banana, overnight the possums ate it! Not sure how I can get around that problem.

This one seems to be going well
I see signs of possum activity
all fixed now
this is the original plant, I think it is about 10 years old, I think I can divide some more but need some more bases before I try to cut.
two little ones are in the front garden, the ferns (pungas to us Kiwis) are doing well with the cooler summer this year.
I moved some bromeliads from the carport to here, hopefully they wont get so much burn from the afternoon sun here, the give a nice splash of colour too.
On my way back up the steps I noticed the seems to getting flowers again
I have made next weeks Anthology block, due Wednesday, I wont be able to get it made that day. Only had to get out Jack once with these half square triangles!
This week I also decided I needed to get some quilt tops finished, so I sandwiched, quilted and bound the half square triangle quilt
Then this quilt with the shaded batiks. Two finished and off the to do list!
The next lot of hexies for the Mystery Hexie quilt are ready to be sewn on, I have nearly run out of left over hexies so need to make some new ones next.
I was busy sewing away on the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler block Thursday and when I went to join the pieces together, realised I had made a mistake, mmm not enough purple pieces, so Jack made an appearance
And the problem was fixed. One Hunters Star block.
One other Anthology block made this week.
I am a bit hungry and have realised it is 2pm and I have not had lunch, I am off to fix that situation up.
Happy stitching.

Life is getting busy again
The days are going by so quickly, seems to be my constant comment!
Progress has been made on the Old Time Kaleidoscope, all the EPP is done, now I need to cut borders and applique the whole EPP section on.
I am stitching on the last blue hexie piece and need to make more hexies for the next row.
A collection of School Girl sampler blocks finished last week
Betty's Medallion has two more borders, I am finding the instructions for this quilt a bit confusing, hence Jack the Ripper has made several visits!
This is the centre block for a Mystery quilt for the Geelong Guild, we had to buy fabrics first and then start our first month, this is going to be interesting and a challenge!
Anthology blocks for last week
Sylvia's Bridal Sampler block, I seem to have some kind of block when it comes to sewing half square triangles, so Jack visited several time during the making of this block too!
Ingrid came to visit on the weekend, we had a great time chatting and catching up and in between sewed up Schoolgirl Sampler blocks
This was another challenge, the half square triangles got me again, Ingrid took this one off me on Saturday evening and we revisited Sunday morning after some unpicking.
I thought I had a handle on Flying Geese but this block gave me a challenge too, I am happy it is done!
It is Anthology day again today, but first I have to go clean the house, I was dusting and then thought I would do a blog post as you do!

Progress on works in progress
How is that for a mouthful!
A block for Sylvia's Bridal Sampler
A geese block for Anthology
Migrating geese for Anthology
Another block for Sylvia's Bridal Sampler, I think this one was Old Maids Puzzle
Another Sylvia block, but the red pieces are all a quarter of an inch short, I have gone wrong in the sewing.
So I gave it a partial border, fixed! Not sure if it will go with the sashing's or even if I am doing sashings as yet.
The wasgij is finished, little happy dance here!
One filler block for the Old Time Kaleidoscope is done
this one needs it's border
as does this one
and blogger has turned this photo, but this one is starting to get it's edging. I made a mistake cutting the fabric for the centre of this block so had to substitute for something in my stash, it is a bit bright but should fit in ok. (She says hopefully!)
Have a great weekend and happy stitching.

Weekend
Saturday we drove, with many a wrong turning, to Tarnagulla. On our way we passed through old goldmining townships, some still going, some no longer.
This was from Friday on our way north, there was a cache here, but I couldn't find it! This church was used for something like 143 years before it was closed.
This is in Dunnolly on our way to Tarnagulla, we stopped here for hubby to have a snooze and for me to have a walk around.
Great old buildings.
This is a cork tree and it next to the train line in Dunnolly, it was going to be removed so the train line could be altered but the locals complained, so here it still is in all its glory. Didn't find the cache here either 😔
We were going to Tarnagulla for the memorial gathering and ashes scattering for David's step father. He was 94 and passed on New Years Eve, exactly 20 years after David's father. He, Les, had found and with the help of extended family members, was renovating a wattle and daub hut his grand parents and great grand parents lived in many years ago. The house is on public land in the State forest so will never be owned by anyone, it is currently managed by a family committee.
The front of the house
Down the back
From the back yard
Looking down the hallway to the front door
One of the bedrooms. The house is staying as it is now as any further renovations will change it from what it originally was.
This was our home away from home at Lake Burrumbeet, very comfortable and had everything we needed.
On Sunday we did a bit of caching on the way home
There were caches all along the Avenue of Honour at these information boards
Some of these were very moving. Once I figured out where the caches were it was a quick find.
As we were leaving Ballarat we past the Memorial Arch, a memorial for the people who went away in WW1.
I spent the morning cutting preparing fabric for a sewing day tomorrow but that has been knocked on the head because here in Victoria we are back into lock down for the next 5 days. The UK strain of the virus is here and spreading, it has come out of the hotel quarantine. Hopefully this lockdown will stop the spread.
I am off now to sew some of the blocks I have cut for tomorrow.
Happy stitching.
