FNWF and Lake Burumbeet

We have spent a very enjoyable weekend at Lake Burumbeet, we arrived Friday afternoon, after settling in I wandered off to looks for caches along the lake side.

I found the first one

after going around and around a huge gum tree and finally found it in the first place I looked, but I didn't look properly! I am always nervous about putting my hand between rocks and into tree fissures as you don't know what may be living there
After this I went back to the cabin and got the car as there was a road to follow and I didn't want to walk 6 km! But I was thwarted, in most places between me and the caches were two barbed wire fences and huge pine trees. I did find one other cache but the gave up. I stopped at a look out of the way back
And saw this, not encouraging when I had been wandering around in the undergrowth! Thank goodness I didn't see any. Growing up in NZ there aren't any snakes so it does not come naturally to me to look out for them. Hopefully they hear me coming and move away!!
It was nice looking out over the lake. I got back to the cabin about 6pm, then had to cook dinner, I missed the pizza fairy delivering! Then I got to sewing after cleaning up
I sewed  three of the blue hexies onto the Mystery hexie quilt before calling it a day and heading for bed.
You can see what the other Friday nighters sewed over at  Cheryll's.
Happy stitching.

  1. It is not natural for me to look for them either. Too bad you couldn't enjoy nature more without thinking about them.

Beautiful photos! I am glad you had a nice little trip.

  4. The lake looked lovely and you got some hexes done. I wouldn’t like to see a snake.

  11. What a nice spot to stay. I hate snakes and am always on the lookout for them. At least you found a couple of caches and were able to enjoy some stitching.

  12. It looks like a lovely place to stay and do some adventuring. Geo caching isn't always straight forward is it??! I love how your mystery quilt is looking.

  13. Sue - that gum tree in the third picture is stunning - what a beautiful symmetrical shape. You are right to take care when sticking your hands in rock crevices! Maybe a flashlight next time, or a stick to poke around in there first?
