Into the city

Today I was up early...actually an hour early as hubby got mixed up and woke me with a cuppa at 5.45 am instead of 6.45 as requested!! Still I enjoyed the cold cuppa at a more sensible time!! I drove to Geelong and caught the train in to the city and wandered down to Jeff's Shed to the Craft and Quilt Show....you can tell the other crafters by the bags they were carrying!! And the flow of women from the train station down the road. I had a great time wandering around and seeing a few familiar faces, Karen and Donna, Jill and Jodi, who were rushing of to do their white glove duties! I have taken many photos of quilts that caught my eye...yep photo heavy again I am sorry...I could have taken lots more, just put the camera away after a while and enjoyed. A feast for the eyes....

Was very surprised to see my name on this list....

I made the orange bucket and spade block for the Quilt In block challenge last year

It was cold and drizzling when I came back out into the real world!!

on the train going in and a little on the way home, I worked on some clam shells

I found these little treasures on a stand...

they go on your finger and light up your sewing as you sew!!I think it is supposed to be on the top of my finger,I need to have  a play with it!!
Off to enjoy pizza for dinner.
Happy sewing.

Craft and Quilt show

Today my lovely host Angie has taken myself and her Mum to a craft show at a local church.....you wouldn't believe the weather today,  it is heaving down rain and there is thunder and lightning ...not cold but you get very wet going outside!! We had a look at the craft fair and made a few purchases, the went next door to have a look at the quilt show
I had a chuckle over this label...if you make one star a day you will have a quilt in a year!!! Yep good in theory....most of the EPP quilts on display had been WIPS for years.....kind of like mine!! Lol!!

Beautiful heirloom quilt with lace and doilies

quilts arranged over the pews in the Church

Might give someone some ideas for the shirt challenge.....maybe....just saying!!!

Loved this quilt....is a quilt as you go by Leesa Chandler if I remember correctly! Lol! Love the poppy fabric. There is also some Kiwi fabric in there which is very nice too.

Looking from the back to the front

Lovely colours here

Lone Star quilt started while the maker was in the US doing a course.
Was a lovely show to look at and good to see the explanations of how the quilts were made. Off home now for lunch.
Have a great day.

Craft and Quilt Show Melbourne

I had a wonderful day out with Marg at the Craft and Quilt Fair at Jeff's Shed on Thursday. We were very brave and negotiated the use of Myki cards, no choice really as there are no paper tickets from Gisborne any more, they worked perfectly so no worries there! I loved the quilt display and of course have taken too many photos but it is hard to know where to stop!! I have not put them all up here I promise!! Lol!!
Loved this frog quilt....

and this NZ one inspired by a holiday to New Zealand, the lady who made it designed it herself too! Very clever!

Detail on the kiwi.....

and the silver fern.....beautiful work....love the colours too...reminiscent of greenstone....

have a look at this one, great colours....

this appealed to me, postage stamp quilt...lots and lots of little pieces!!

This one was hand pieced...just beautiful...

this was the winner of the display.......tiny half inch hexagons I think...beautiful....

loved this one....

the 5000 Poppies ladies are there creating knitted, crochet or felted poppies for their display next ANZAC Day...

this one has shirting fabric in it, great for our group challenge......

some beautiful quilts...Elizabeth something???

Loved this one made in memory of the quilters mother who has passed.....a flower quilt...fussy cut..1 inch, 2 inch and three inch squares...you can see the detail below..just beautiful...Oh no!! I have just realised it is sideways!!!
I tried again...this is better!!

amazing quilting and detail...

also really loved these Sentinels...I hope I have the name right - Marg and I purchased one each to go home and play with....great idea!
I had a very happy and productive day - found some fabric for the next Aussie Hero's quilt and got to talk with lots of lovely people....
Off to have a play!!
Happy sewing!
