City visit

 Saturday a week ago we went up to Melbourne to visit Shane (#2 son) and his partner Rilla. During the second Melbourne lockdown they moved into an apartment in Docklands and we had not been to see where they were, so Saturday we were up bright and early

I have not been up with the sun for ages!!

This building really annoys David as it is not straight 😀 every time he sees it he feels like it is going to fall over!

Shane and Rilla met us at the boat and we walked back to their apartment

Going out to lunch we passed an amazing shop with the most stunning Indian themed wedding wear, the colours were beautiful.

This is the garden at the base of the high rise Shane lives in, outdoor BBQ, exercise equipment and space to exercise dogs.

So Shane did!

While we were out for lunch the heavens opened and the rain came down, this view is out of the west looking window, love the contrast between the modern high rise buildings and the old train shed building down below. Shane and Rilla are on the 17th floor. We were sitting chatting and Shane said look out the window......we could see tiny snow flakes falling 😲  Shane says it happens quite often when it is raining there. I wasn't quick enough to get a photo.

David and I wandered back to the ferry in the rain late afternoon

The Geelong ferry was in first, the Port one arrived not long after and thankfully they allowed us onto the boat once the people coming to Melbourne were off and they had done a quick clean, we were happy to get out of the rain

A little refreshment was had on the way home

As we arrived back into Portarlington the sun peeped out from the clouds.

A very nice finish to our day out. Hopefully as we get back to normal life and people use the ferry, the service will be a little more often allowing us to come home earlier in the afternoon.

I am off to Bellarine quilters today so I had better go and get ready.

Wandering Camera

Today, this last Thursday of October I am linking with Whims And Fancies for Wandering Camera

Today I have delivered Jenny into Melbourne, we went up on the train and then by taxi to the hotel. They ladies couldn't get into their room until 2pm and were wanting lunch, so,we wandered off to Southbank to the food hall.
After a good lunch we crossed the nearest bridge

We wandered across the bridge

And had a great view of the Yarra river , you can see why it is called the upside down river!!

Then wandered along Swanston Street, past the Town hall

And then to the Bourke Street mall, this building is the old Post Office 

I have finished one flower on Doing the Rounds, the centre is a bit wonky, but I will cover it with a circle.

The next flower has been started on 😆.

Off to Melbourne

We went by train from South Geelong station...

and arrived at Southern Cross then walked around Etihad stadium 

and to the tourist tram and went around a little of the city

got off at Flinders Street and walked to Collins St, got the tram up to the Sherlock Holmes for lunch

we had a great lunch with Shane

tried a selfie!! And then we came home by the train, tired but happy!

Back home it was back to normal, Jenny headed off to get the washing, the Supervisor was not far behind! I did do a little knitting, I had started a beanie and so continued only to find several mistakes so I pulled it out and started again..photo to come, although a black beanie is not very exciting!!

Off to Gisborne today, it is hairdressing day, so hope to catch up with friends too.

Yesterday (super photo heavy)

I met Tracee and Margaret in the city to have a look at the Making the Australian Quilt exhibition...the train trip was 30 clam shells in length

luckily the train started from South Geelong so I got a seat no problems.

We decided to go and have a look at the Kylie costume exhibition at the Arts Centre, we got our buildings mixed up and ended up in the National Gallery 

we found theses interesting mirrors curved around like the inside of a shell

having many images of yourself is a bit confronting!!

Marg instructed and Tracee demonstrated the correct way to view the ceiling!! 

just beautiful!

of course we had to have a photo with the water wall and yes Marina I did stick my finger in the water!!!

now we head back to the right building!!

and had a look at Kylie's costumes, they are stunning and interesting to see the changes thru the years.

This display was in the same building, these little houses were available for decoration and then the owner was suppoes to take photos of them in different locations and put it on an internet site...would have been good to do..

there was a large baby hanging from the roof in Fed Square..the idea was to remind us we need to play sometimes and not be attached to a screen. There were big balls underneath with smaller balls inside, play with them and entertain the baby. Was interesting to watch children playing, the boys were interested in crashing, the girl I saw was working out what was happening to the inside balls.

And so to the Quilt exhibition...I will let the pictures do the talking here

Coming home was a bit of an ordeal, the train was late arriving, it was super full so no seat, it stopped at Geelong and I had to get off and wait for the next one to get to South Geelong and the car..it took me over 2 hours to get home, was a bit tired by then. But i had a great day and wonderful company!

I had better make a move, the Supervisor has a vet check up visit and hubby wants to move his car which is in front of mine.
